    BLM has mobility issues. Max DPS issues. It wasn't that bad before because T1-5, the pieces of content that mattered most, were relatively stand-still fights, so it could be forgiven, even if we underperformed a little. However, T6-9 (I'm on T9, I'm not just assuming here) are really bad for BLM except T8, due to how much movement is required and how there's nothing to AoE properly. We need a buff ASAP or we're destined to be sub-par for future content in such a mobile, phase shift heavy game, and I can't main that for another half a year waiting for content BLM shines in.

    BLM DPS is crazy even considering the state of Firestarter, regardless of "max DPS" issues.

    Honestly, it doesn't bother me much, but I dont really think Firestarter needs to stack. It's already an "extra" sort of damage thing, sort of like Bards and Bloodletter procs, but it's constant in its random chance.


    I think a better change would be to allow you to keep Firestarter as long as you have Astral Fire up, but stacking Firestarter procs would almost definitely push BLM into OP territory in terms of DPS output. Consider BLMs also have Thundercloud as an ability. The 2 instant-cast mechanics I believe are sufficiently random. Making them easier to use would sort of defeat the nature of the traits IMO, which is an exciting combo DPS burst.


    However, for level 51-60 BLM Traits, adding the ability to stack firestarter would be pretty awesome.

    Edellis your suggestion would make Black Mages to OP and it would kill the Summoner job

    Speaking of which, I would like the outline when Bloodletter procs instead of just it showing the cooldown gone. It would help draw attention to it so it gets wasted less. Just a QoL thing.

    On the topic, why might letting Firestarter procs stack to 2 be OP? I mean yes we'd get to chain cast two Fire IIIs but at the cost of not being able to gain any more procs from those. We'd pretty much be getting an extra Fire I cast or two due to saving the mana. Could be toned down if it gets too high by a small nerf to Fire III.

    All of these suggestions are meant to improve the QUALITY OF LIFE of Black Mages, not a cryout to increase our DPS. Should they implement this, the small dps upgrade (again its only a 16% chance this would happen when 2 fires are casted back to back) would just be a small bonus they could easily tone down. It just follows that currently Black Mages are near the bottom of the dps hierarchy so its easy to muddle this down with the idea of "buffing" black mage dps. Yes, I personally wish Black Mages would deal more single target dps, HOWEVER I made this thread to bring attention to a specific annoyance many Black Mages have with the playstyle, we hate wasting procs, simple as that.

    I'd say Firestarter is closer to Heavier Shot than River of Blood.

    i agree

    i switched to BLM to main for 2.2 and i sort of regret spending my tomestone on the blm weapon instead of smn (we already have a smn and i didn't want to class stack)

    even on turn 8 my blm with an ilevel 100 weapon is doing anywhere from 20-50 (depending on how lucky i get) less sustained dps than my ilevel 95 weapon summoner who is using mostly gear loaded with acc instead of dps increasing secondary stats

    firestarter definitely needs a change, i cringe whenever i see the buff overwriting itself, same with thundercloud (although this rarely happens since the proc chance is much lower)
