Ever since following this, I have not had to grind more than an hour for an atma.

Lmao. I love when people try to make sense and find ways to 'beat' RNG. First of all, if there was a set practice it would work for everyone, not just a few people who post on reddit. I say a few people because all the rest of non-posters are still farming their atma's. My buddy was convinced this Japanese theory would work, and he still hasn't gotten a drop in 2 days. Stay at home dad so he can play whenever he wants.http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...arming_theory/

This theory says that you are capped at 4 atma's every 12 hours. Explain how I got my atma weapon within 2 days of 2.2 patch releasing? I got 8 of them in one day, the remaining 4 the next day.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy you were able to get your atma pops....but they didn't happen because of some crack-pot theory, regardless if the times coincided with those stated or not.
People are just blowing smoke up each other's you-know-what. There is no rhyme or reason to atma drops. If you hit the Atma lottery at that specific FATE, you get your atma, simple as that. The only way you could ever hope to increase your odds at getting an Atma is if you could trick the game into thinking your character is two seperate entities and you get two rolls on it per every finished FATE.
Another friend of mine is convinced that if you take the right-hand route through ADS nodes in turn 2 then the chests drop caster items...
OP: The best advice I have heard anyone give, is if you are getting burnt out with trying for your current atma, just stop hunting the atma and do something else in-game for a little while until you cool off. It gets frustrating for people when they hear of others getting theirs quick when you are stuck. Go farm some myth tomes and come back to it, trust me you will need a lot of those.

B-but if you take away our tinfoil hats what will we have left?! Certainly not atmas...!
Joking aside, you may think you have terrible luck OP but I am STILL @ 2. I've put it off for the moment to do extremes. I only do fates for the most part during beasts.
You clearly don't read very well. The OP of that page suggested its possible that you are capped at 4 every 12 hours. Implying that it is not proven. In fact NONE of this is proven. It is as you say, a theory. A theory that is working for people who try it.Lmao. I love when people try to make sense and find ways to 'beat' RNG. I tried it, got several of my friends to try it too and they all got their atmas very shortly after following it. NOTHING can be proven about how the drops work unless a dev comes out and states it (as they are the only ones that know how it works).
Plus, if OP is getting frustrated, might as well give it a shot. Can't hurt, can it?
Also, who said the whole thing was RNG? It is very possible that SE didn't design it entirely to be RNG.

I got a friend who got 5 in six hours. I think the cap part is false.
6 of my friends wore there underwear on their fists while back-flipping as Bard's and got their Atma's to drop as long as the hour of the day coincided with the blood moon's eclipse last night.
I don't read very well, but I promise I saw that this worked for at least 4.4 people. The .4 was a Lala.
False it doesn't take the devs to do that. I had a couple of friends get more than 4 in a 12 hour period. I can disprove, without dev support, that part of the theory outright. With a large enough sample size even we players could prove the "improved drop rate" part as well.
Well, I guess that part you can easily disprove. But because you can also get atmas outside the timezones, I dont think anyone will be truly able to prove the theory.False it doesn't take the devs to do that. I actually went to try that out lol Got like 3 off ~5 fates in each zone, then it went back to crap of nothing for days :/ It better not be like North Shroud again, I was stuck there for almost 6 days, grinding the majority of the day and nothing.
Even though its random, I still feel like complaining how much bs it is >.> I started the grind 2 days before anyone in my FC (on 2.2 release) and I'm only 6/12. One of them got most of theirs within a week, the other went up from 1/12 to all 12 within 2 days -.- With this crap, I don't even feel like doing my other jobs lol They'll just have to deal with +1 relic
