I'm under the impression that they are building this game for the long term and yet needing to satisfy the player base at the same time.

Game needs high end content... so Coil for ilvl 70+ and ex primals.

Game needs a proper bridge between ilvl 48 and ilvl 70.. hence 2.1 ilvl48 dungeons, and 2.2 ilvl55, and 2.3 will be ilvl 60 etc...
Therefore it's not really supposed to be challenging by design because it is in fact low level content by comparison to the current high end stuff.

Well, try to get through Sirius Pharos as a healer while keeping a MNK with about 2500HP alive through all the run. Now that's a challenge

Actually, Pharos Sirius was the opposite of a DPS check. All three bosses had mechanics that were a guaranteed wipe if you burned the boss too fast and/or ignored mechanics (these mechanics are still there but have been toned down a bit). Haukke HM and Copperbell HM just had some slightly unforgiving mechanics, but I never got a DF group that couldn't clear either of those places, though sometimes people had to be taught how.

Basically, the theme of that trio of dungeons was "Don't ignore adds!" because in all of them, especially Pharos, ignoring the adds would get the whole group killed.

It is a little weird to me that the Amdapor City/Brayflox HM/Halatali HM are, generally speaking, easier than Haukke HM/Halatali HM/Pharos, but drop the better gear.

However, I do recognise that they're trying to separate out postgame content into a bit longer of a 'range'. And yeah, people being better geared over time does help, but that's the ever increasing average.

you would probably have to form your own ilevel appropriate parties to find these dungeons challenging.

for someone like me, well, I'm ilevel 92 and I still need to do the expert roulette for tomes. not much I can do about that.

Just gonna call a straight out NOPE on this one. Before 2.2 people would leave this dungeon because the first boss was curbstomping people most of the time. (If you beat him though, the rest of the dungeon wasn't too difficult once you got the mechanics worked out)

Pharos Sirius was my favourite dungeon before the nerf, It was the only challenging 4 man thing this game had, and they nerfed it.
So now there is nothing challenging at all for players who aren't interested in extremes and primals. (Okay I admit I still find the 2nd boss in haukke manor hm hard)
I'm starting to lose interest in the game cause there is nothing hard for me to do.
I could do coil, but it seems to be full of kids who ragequit after one wipe, and I haven't tried the extremes but I guess it's kinda the same.

Give us something hard with minimum reward to keep the angry elitist kids away. I'd like that

Pharos Sirius is a masterpiece of dungeon and quitting it, is a slap in face of everyone worked for it.

Back to topic, if the OP wants challenge, he just needs to gear with the minimal ilvl required for the dungeon. NONE of them are a walk in the park.

Yeah.. Pharos Sirus was probably my fav dungeon pre-nerf, and I fun lots of fun tanking that dungeon (my main is a BRD thou).

    A shame it was nerfed.
