I'm not sure if you've been in a position to buy things you don't particularly need simply because the price was low, but there are plenty of people who are. They see something that is undercut and turn it into profit. People who undercut could very well be targeting that market base and just want to unload their useless items as quickly as possible. There isn't a remedy to fix this.
It's the same in any game with an Auction House actually.
There are always a number of people with severe brain damage who think; "This is up for 50K...but wait IF I SELL MINE FOR 40K IT'LL SELL FASTER".*
These people actually exist, and somehow believe this, and there is no remedy.
I know I've bought items I have no use for other than to have the item simply because it was lower than the normal market price.
I've undercut people by upwards to 50k flat before just because they kept undercutting me by 1g each time. If you're going to **** with me I'm crashing the entire market.
people are not understanding about the undercutting situation is not about dropping it by 1gil but for those people that undercut the value of the item for more the 1/3 of it worth. which it doesnt make sense. like lets say if you buy the item to craft something and lets say it cost 3k to make it u try to sell it for like 5-6k but people putting it for like 3.8k why would u do that??? i still believe that FF11 AH was the best AH i ever seen in any MMO game

Its even more astonishing when they are selling for less than NPC prices...people are not understanding about the undercutting situation is not about dropping it by 1gil but for those people that undercut the value of the item for more the 1/3 of it worth. which it doesnt make sense. like lets say if you buy the item to craft something and lets say it cost 3k to make it u try to sell it for like 5-6k but people putting it for like 3.8k why would u do that??? i still believe that FF11 AH was the best AH i ever seen in any MMO game
This is the appropriate reaction to someone undercutting by 1 gil. If you're not willing to make significantly less money on your sale than the person who listed before you, you should get in line behind them, and list it at 1 more gil than the last person, out of respect for their having listed first. If you're going to get there late, and you're also going to undercut by 1 gil so you can be first in line, then you deserve to have your market crashed.
That's just silly.
Crashing a market because "I got there first" makes no sense.
Do you see a super market chain going "Oh...ASDA is a Whipped Cream for £1.25", well chaps seeing as they started selling it first we'll set our price at £1.50 out of respect!
lolno, they're going to undercut them and make a song and dance about it and say "LOOK THIS ONE IS CHEAPER GET OURS FIRST!"
Proud undercutter here, too.
People sometimes forget that there is a sales history - where you can see how many of that particular item have sold on the Market Board and when. This is one of the best tools for seeing the actual demand of an item. Were the last transactions all in the same hour? Same day? Or has it been days or more since the last one of that item sold?
If it's been half a day or more since an particular item type sold and all the listings are around the same price, that's a good time for a large price decrease. It might encourage some buyers.
