No i didnt, because im not young anymore and dont have a ton of time to play a game anymore. I dont want to start up a game and be hit with walls and walls of text. Its nothing personal with the story, its the fact i dont find this sort of conent in a video game enjoyable.

Well then I guess you're playing the wrong game for you - FF games traditionally require the player to read, a lot - they're story based and hence are heavy on lore and dialogue. Yes there's battles and dungeon crawling too, but they're just part of the bigger picture.

As for the fetch quests, even though they were used to drag the gameplay out a little too much, again there is a reason for this - Eorzea is still struggling to recover from the Calamity, a disaster that was caused by foreigners, and the disappearance of the adventurers (the original Warriors of Light) who fought at Carteneau didn't help, especially as there have been people taking advantage of the situation and exploiting the legacy of the Warriors of Light for personal gain (accordingly the average person now tends to treat anyone claiming to actually be one with a mixture of scorn and contempt, if not just disbelief).

Hence trust is very hard to find and has to be earned. Minfilia even mentions this during the lead up to Operation Archon - that the player is being judged not on what they may or may not have accomplished in the past, but what they're doing now.

Yes it does seem like the player is used like a put-upon work-experience kid/intern a little too much, but showing that they don't mind helping people even with mundane tasks with little reward shows those in power they can be trusted with more sensitive affairs of state. 'Start at the bottom and work your way up' and all that.
