This right here is the kicker. The biggest impact this rule will have is in preventing people from re-subbing - the exact opposite of what SE wants.

I can promise you there's more people subbing for the game's actual content overall than just housing - Especially when F2P/B2W/Freemium MMOs have FAR, FAR, FAR superior housing systems to XIV, they can be spending their time and money elsewhere.

I understand your sentiment, however them doing this won't even cause a ripple in the sub count compared to the ATMA Fate grinding which would cause way more people to not sub compared to losing a generally pointless house when no one wants to use it for 35 days.

Maybe not, but there should be people looking into it. There was a story not long ago about a homeowner found dead in their home only after their bank account started bouncing automatic payments. They were in the house, dead, for years. We can consider company members going into the house paying the housing bills. You pay the bills, you keep the house. Don't even have to stay long; go in, get out, continue on with your life. You could be keeping a dead body in there and so long as 'you pay the bills' noone will care.

Hey, they should make your character randomly have a chance to get sick and you have to spend tons of gil for treatment. Then they could add health insurance options for your character. Just like in real life! Real life in videogames is such a good argument.

If you've unsubscribed for longer than a month or haven't had a single member access the instance you should probably lose the server space.

Especially considering the fact that there are a limited number of Wards, and that certain plots are more desirable than others.

If they're going to destroy a person's house, the least SE could do is save all the decorations. Send them via system mail to the FC leader so that if/when an individual returns to the game, they don't get the double-punch-to-the-gut of not only having lost their millions spent on the house, but also all the time and gil invested in decorating it.

You must still live with your parents? Cause I don't think you know how the Adult world works. People have given plenty of examples of real life situations that could stop someone from playing for more than 35 days at a time. Imagine if you had a small FC maybe 5 people and everyone but you quit, You own a house, and then your dad says "Son I'm not paying for your FFXIV for the next Two Months". Guess what? You're screwed. Again and people really need to get this, This will only effect a small minority of FCs.

Actually, I am a 34 year old man with a full time job I work out of town often and work over 50 hours a week in most cases and more sometimes. I have no children but have a married life and life responsibilities that comes with marriage and having a social life. I still find time to log in for at LEAST an hour within 35 days.

So I will re-iterate, stop being over dramatic. If you can't afford 5 minutes to log in to save your house then you should:

a) Not own one.
b) Join a FC that can support one

If your FC isn't active enough to where a single member can't log in for 35 days, you don't need one.

If RL has you occupied for that long, there's clearly other priorities aside from this game.
