    Like Turn 5 progression?

The part that really excited me about that was the 5 minutes it took to transition from a phase where my only responsibility was to memorize attack patterns and boss behavior to accurately predict an incoming Death Sentence.

jk i hated that shit lol

For weeks it was my only job to do that, and then hope the rest of the group could do their job. not because i was better than them, but because my job was so much easier than theirs.

And for as much fiction as you might believe it to be, how many people say that tanking is not a boring job? Isn't that the entire reason why we have a tank shortage in the first place?

I'm a career tank and I've purposefully held off on EX Primals because of the mechanics. My FC taught me the fight after a long amount of patience. As mentioned, i joined DF and after second wipe at the swapping phase everyone dropped.

What am I going to do now? Well i'm going to my DPS jobs and i'm going to mooch the fights and buy the solidery ring to fill that spot. Problem solved. -1 tank for EX Primals.

I've also been watching the strategy videos for turn 6 on and how SE's mechanics have been developing since 2.1 have been annoying. Honestly, they should design mechanics to be usable with the tools available to their players. with DF and PF, you shouldn't have to have mechanics that require voice chat. The game is fast paced enough. I type something - there goes my DPS. I type something, that could have been the hallowed ground or a cure - we're dead. That's why its a game of memorization rather than skill.

Hi, I do think people may find it boring, though I don't share the opinion. I think the reasons for the lack of tanks are mainly others. There are threads about that.

I have not played all jobs so I can't say. In my case, with some exceptions (Titan HM is one), it's much more relaxed to go as a WHM (which has his completely unrelaxed moments...), and in the places I have been, the THM even more relaxed (I'm only level 27.) When I know vey well a place I prefer to go as a PLD for the less queue time and to not meet a bad or inexp tank. If I want a more relaxed life in places I don't know very very well, I go as WHM. For new content I go as a PLD since I have better gear there, but I need to study the guides and be prepared for feeling bad if I don't do well and make other people have a bad time or waste their time. Really you can't do well at first try just by seeing guides in difficult places. Most people are nice, but you may find the exception. (Lol, I've seen rude people scolding each other badly in the level 15 turtle guildhest!)

Playing different jobs is nice, it makes you see things from other point of view and you learn also to do better your main job. My next job will be Black Mage, and later a melee DPS. Healer and ranged DPS seem to be the most different to a tank, I started with them. I like WAR too. Each job has its fun.

In my case, I went to Garuda EX (DF) as a noob tank (seeing guides and youtubes), I did OT, we wiped first try. No second try, I was made main tank, did badly, most people left. I left. I have a lot of things to do now, when I'm in the mood, I'll go back there and try again. I think it is not so difficult a place for me to win there with practice, a good group, etc. But now I am busy doing other things, there's a lot of new things to do (soldiery tomes, I have not completed Coil 1, etc.)

Something that was never mentioned about the tank mounts. Garuda Extreme does not count toward the achievement. The ONLY things tanks can get from the fight are one of two horses, a fending ring, a chance to greed roll something else IF no one needs it, and a small amount of myth/soldiers.

I however just got my tanks to 50 and I want the horses so I'm going to go queue up for this on Exodus.

Garuda is a fight that's so tightly tuned to fail your group if anyone screws up that it feels like more effort than its worth, at least personally speaking. I know the fight extremely well and can fill either MT or OT without issue but if the other tank fails to bring their A game or if DPS do something stupid, there isn't much the group can do to make up for it before wiping and starting over.

I would much rather do Leviathan another 170-ish times for my bear mount than spend any more time doing Garuda.

Yeah... "eh" Vortex Ring of Fending; Allagan Ring of Fending from BCoB Turn 2 is a lot less effort than Garuda EX.

If you've already got most of your Primal Weapons there is really no incentive to run it on your Tank role.

Since when? All Ex Primals and Coil (not T3) count towards mount.

I just made a similar response in another thread but: as a Career tank, with PLD & WAR @ 50, Garuda is a waste of time. I'm only on for a few hours a day, and that time is already tied up doing very specific things. My "spare" time goes towards helping my FC, and then completing the requirements for my atma books. That's just the way it is.

To people arguing the Garuda Ring is good, sure, it's fine, if you are doing content other than the currently released content. If you are doing 2.2 progression, you need the stats from Allagan/Heroes if not better. Since everything I do is new content, I don't equip it. And yes, I already have my Vortex Ring of Fending anyway, so as I said, waste of time.
