What happens if you are a Free Company Leader and a IRL situation happens and you cannot play the game for more than 35 days say 3 months or so. Like you have to move and when you get there your not able to get internet or you just don't have the funds to pay. Well you have FC members so you're not worried about losing your house right? Well what happens when people start to leave the FC for whatever reasons and then there isn't anyone left? You lose your house. Will this happen? It can cause it did happen to one of my FCs I was in, There was no house involved. But that doesn't mean stuff like this cant happen to other.

This isn't going to effect many FCs as I said in the OP, This more than likely isn't going to effect anyone who owns a medium or large house. Land plots might be a premium, but I guarantee you all the good ones that are taken will never be lost. This is just a stupid way for SE to try and avoid putting in more Wards. I wish I could do a poll to see how many FCs that don't own a house are waiting to try to get specific plot or near one. And I'll bet you 95% of them aren't looking to buy a small house, Because with this 35 day crap that's the only ones that will be effected. I don't know about the rest of the servers but there are still plenty of Plots for sale on Excalibur. No one wants the small houses, Out of 21 plots I think there was like 3 or 4 large and a few medium and the rest were small in the mist ward.

My FC started with seven players, five of them left after 2.1. Only me and my wife stuck it out. And they still don't have the urge to come back yet. And FYI I bet you there are a lot more small family sized FC with less than 10 players than you think. An FC can consist of one person for all I care. As I said before this game doesn't promote content for Groups larger than 8. Why have a FC with 10+ players other than to take peoples money for a house?

No one is asking to keep it forever. 35 days isn't a lot of time, 90 days sounds reasonable or at the 35 day mark SE can convert the house to a land deed and a building permit. There are a few houses near mine that have zero furnishings in the basement, either they don't know about it or they aren't playing to know about it.

You have zero hope of obtaining a Medium or Large house I'm sorry. I'm 99% sure this wont effect them. The only hope you will have is to save the money and SE finally open new wards.

You must still live with your parents? Cause I don't think you know how the Adult world works. People have given plenty of examples of real life situations that could stop someone from playing for more than 35 days at a time. Imagine if you had a small FC maybe 5 people and everyone but you quit, You own a house, and then your dad says "Son I'm not paying for your FFXIV for the next Two Months". Guess what? You're screwed. Again and people really need to get this, This will only effect a small minority of FCs.

Yup. Like I said be for it just another way for SE to get more money out of us. Theres a lockout on just about everything so no one wants to unsub for a month or two because they will fall behind, And now if you unsub for more than 35day and no one is in your house you lose it. Just another way to get more money. I don't see why they can't just add more wards, Yes it cost money but that's what they need to do.

And that's exactly the reason WHY it's useless that you'll lose your house after 35 days.
It won't ever affect FCs that are big enough that there's always someone playing.
It will ONLY affect small FC like ours. And if that's like 1 % or so then it's really useless.
Maybe only a handful of FCs with only 2 - 5 members will EVER lose their house because all of them are on a vacation, have exams, family issues or are just taking a break from a video game. So why making them lose their house at all?
Maybe, just maybe, some really small FC will lose their house due to inactivity and one other FC will buy the plot. But that won't happen ever so often. So what's the good of this?

And there are no rules that say it's forbidden for an FC to consist only of a few friends or family members and no rules that say that such an FC isn't allowed to buy a house either.

Why should a big FC have more use of a house than a small one?

Because it'll only affect small family FCs it'll hit them even harder.
Now we have to make sure to NEVER take a break from the game that's longer than 35 days.
It's right that if you don't use the house at all it could also be abandoned.
But it's just unfair to punish small FCs for taking a short break from a game.

People aren't seeing the bigger picture of all this. Most likely it will only be small FCs effected. If FCs are waiting for a Medium or large house to be foreclosed on they are going to be waiting for a very very long time. And don't think this will just effect FC housing, There are going to be a hell of a lot more personal houses. And depending on how cheap they are, There might be players who buy more than one.

It sounds like you should lay off the dewritos if you can't afford the sub as the sole person holding a house. This isn't CEO level planning.

People are making this far worse than it sounds. That's called "fear-mongering".

    It's wrong. Stop it.

If you don't use your FC for 35 days straight; this means 24x35= 840 hours, time wise, to click on the entrance of your house, then simply put: you aren't using it. Period. Nor do you need it.

And just because Personal housing can attach itself on FC housing doesn't mean it impacts personal housing; you'll still have a way to go to your personal housing without it being attached.
Way to make a mountain out of a mole, folks. Seriously. It sucks that your members of your FC no longer log on and you're down to two people but, honestly? Two people shouldn't have a home unless they plan on really wanting it and using it.

And don't give me the bullcrap story of "Oh, if you're an adult, you would know things happen." I'm an adult. I have a one year old son. I can STILL manage to click on a damn entrance to an FC to avoid this from happening. (Thanks Gods I actually SOCIALIZE in a game and have more than 2 people in the FC...oh wait, CONCEPT!)

    Ugh.

What school do you go to where final exams last 35 days?

All of the reasons you keep stating are laughable.

No one is going to take 5 weeks to have a baby... my wife was high risk and we spent a week in the hospital. I've had cousins who were ultra high risk and they were out of the hospital within 3 weeks.

5 weeks for a funeral? Where is this funeral taking place, Mars?

A "dorm-wide internet outage nightmare".... for 5 weeks? Seriously? Go to a friends house off campus, plug your computer in, log in, enter and exit your house. Problem solved.

SE isn't saying that you need to expand upon your housing every 35 days... just saying that someone needs to walk in the front door.

That takes all of 30 seconds, if that.

I swear, some people will just complain for the sake of complaining.

In closing... yes, SE is basically telling small FC's that they need to ensure ONE member maintains a subscription and logs in every 5 weeks in order to keep the FC housing. If this makes you mad becasue you were thinking of not paying for the next two months, then coming back and expecting your housing to be retained... you lose.

This isn't true. From personal experience, I know that EQII charges weekly rent ("upkeep") for both personal and guild housing, but you don't lose it if you fail to pay - you just can't access it until you pay off your debts.

Why would they check their house though, they serve very little real practical purpose.

I'm going to get enough people gathered together to make 1-man FCs, and buy every single lot
on Malboro. Then only check their houses once every 34 days and never use them. Too bad
so sad for anyone else that actually has any care for their house.

I'm also going to buy an entire section of season tickets to New York Yankees, and only go to
1 game a year. Nobody else needs to see them play anyway, right? Little Timmy can watch
from home. I paid for them, so everyone else can just deal with it. No fun for you.
