i was merely saying that the logic behind if you don't use it you don't need it was flawed.

the reason se has the 35 day limit is so that any houses that have been bought but aren't used can be rebought and used so they don't have to make whole new wards because people buy then don't use houses.

The person you quoted was pointing out how ridiculous the notion of removing a house from an FC is. Players often participate in various in-game activities in waves. For example, for about two months prior to the patch, I did almost zero dungeons outside of Coil and the occasional extreme primal. Now I'm running dungeons every day. I hadn't touched guildhests in even longer, but now I'm trying to get the one-time-completion bonus as much as I can (because monies). Once I've done that I probably won't touch guildhests much at all again. I've got several alts I haven't even logged into in many months. Should SE take those from me?

The entire notion is absurd. SE shouldn't be removing things from players that we worked hard to achieve.

They have said in the "FUTURE" this would take place. With them adding things like the airship docks, chocobo stables and even now with gardening...seriously if no one in your FC (and I dont care if its 2 people or 200 people) visits the house in 35 days its fine with me if they erase it. There will be lots of reasons to go to it before this takes place.

First of all, anything you spend that much gil on should be yours to keep. I don't see how anybody can justify it any differently, especially considering you paid real money and spent real time to make the 10-60 million gil required to buy your land, not to mention the furnishings.

Secondly, 35 days is not even close to reasonable, how about we try 6-12 months, but even that is plain stupid. There are a huge number of reasons people may have for not logging in, like being sick for example, or having to take an extended trip for work (army/etc.). People should not be penalized for not logging into the game, if anything they should be rewarded for logging into the game since it costs money to play.

Finally, how can any of you actually agree with this? You're telling me if it was your 10s of millions on the line you would be ok with SE just taking what you spent on it back so that they can save some $$$ on servers (which is literally the only feasible reason for this). Personally if they did that to my house I would never play this game again.

If it was player-owned housing, I'd say a longer time period. But for an FC house? 35 days of NOBODY in your FC accessing it seems just fine. If nobody in your FC can be bothered to play in 35 days or even look at the house, you don't need it. There are plenty of other FCs that would love to have the space and help make the neighborhood not be empty.

I am talking about FC housing, do you live in some alternate reality where it's ok for people to take back the things you bought from them?

Since you mentioned it, I might as well too. If we let them do this with FC housing what's stopping them from applying it to personal housing? A precedence needs to be set that this is not ok and I don't care if the FC "needs it" or not because they bought it and should get to keep it. This only makes sense if housing were free and it is very very far from free.

I'm really getting sick of housing in general, first they release it with prices that are so unrealistic it's stupid and now they're just giving people another reason not to buy housing. There isn't a single Ward that's full on my server, or even half full for that matter so why do they need to add this balony to the pot?

Honestly, I really, REALLY, REALLY hope they do. Maybe bump up the inactivity timer to 60 or 90 days but considering that it will more than likely be limited space that everyone is after, there's zero reason to allow someone to monopolize it when they're clearly not using it. Trust me, I've seen how well things turn out when a housing system has no way to clean itself up. It makes the whole system a mess and devalues the entire thing.

We paid the gil and time into that house. SE should not be able to take it from us.

You do remember this is Square Enix's game and not ours, right? They can shut the game off tomorrow if they felt like it, you agreed you're only paying for the right to "access" the game, you own nothing

One of the personal housing options is going to be having a room within your FC house, so yes, this is going to affect personal housing too.
