For me it's more that they said in the list of changes from 1.0 to 2.0 that seasonal event items would become unobtainable, but instead they became easier to obtain. I don't like being lied to/misinformed. It gave me the expectation that those items would be more special and unique than they turned out to be.

Also I still think it's weird that the collector's edition didn't come with garlond goggles from the 1.0 standard edition and you can still get all the collector's stuff but you can't get garlond goggles, making them the actual collector's item.

Someone explained this to me in one of the CE threads that popped up during Beta. Iirc, if you had your FFXI account linked to your 1.0 FFXIV account, you were able to get the Hermes Sandals and Garlond Goggles. That's how I got them.

I have Hermes Shoes and not Garlond Goggles. So I don't think that's how it worked.

    Just Hermes Sandals.

Garlond Goggles was the XIII code I believe.

Hermes was for tying FFXI account.
Garlond Goggles was a pre-order bonus for SE, while CE got the blue Onion Helmet as a pre-order bonus.
FFXIII code gave the Asuran Armguards
