Luck? Yes.The trick of farming atma is NOT TO STAY at same area for too long.
I spent my first 3 hours at one area and got nothing, got a bit frustrated, so I decided to do what other people did.
Don't spend more than an hour in one area and move to another area, and I got 5 of them in one day, less than 4 hours.
Luck?

Says the person who hasn't experienced spending a total of over 10+ hours just to get one atma like others CLEARLY have. Do you like the atma drops being handed to you because you got lucky? I bet you do. No wonder you're trying to defend it.

I've been tracking my number of Fates since I started grinding them for Atma. So far I have 3 out of 309 Fates. All the people saying its easy to farm them, or telling us to stop complaining about it, can lick me in any one of my body parts that have never seen the sun. You got lucky with RNG, that's it. I won't stop grinding until I have all 12. As others have mentioned these weapons will always be upgradable as the game goes on. So if I don't do it now I'll be way behind when the next upgrade comes out. But if this 1% pace keeps up, I'll just quit the game.
Please spare me the door closing behind me pics, or telling me where the door is etc. I love this game, and I want to keep playing. But if I can't have what will always be the best weapon simply due to bad luck, while other, less skilled players get theirs, then I don't want to play anymore. That's a fact, and I'm clearly not alone on this. SE is going to lose a lot of subscribers because of this mess.

I'd say the first part of the zodiac quest could have been done better. its just a mindless grind. The books however are actually fun and engaging albeit f*&%ing expensive.
@OP: Yea I agree with you, T1-5 was done in darklight/af2 so its all a matter of skill and team co-ordination. I can't believe some people still think Over-geared = Skilled player.
It really isn't. My FC managed to get to Coil 9 this week and shows you don't need the atma to get that far. Most likely don't need it to down it either.
I don't mind grind, I refuse to grind 10+ hours for each atma.
And what is the other players take on this?
PS- This needs another thread, atma was a terrible idea.
Weelllp. Not everyone is that far ahead.
It is about progression- Also, not everyone wants to do the exact same thing. There are people in my FC is no desire to raid and some people like grinding.
So.. I just recently started actively posting in forums.....

I'm more fortunate in this regard than someone else I know who did spend a good 17+ hours trying to just get the Scorpion atma.
Everyone is freaking out over the RNG nature of this, but the only items (gear wise) that are not subjected to RNG are those purchased from vendors or crafted. But it's totally ok since they aren't FATE based right?
God you people cry a lot. I can't wait to get high enough to start grind for my weapon. And for people crying about thing for ever, go play 11 and build a weapon where you had to farm NMs, the first set would be "kill 3 of this nm" and the nm spawns every 1-3 hours. Then "kill 6 of this nm" with a spawn of 4-8 hours. And it just got more and more crazy. Then "kill these mobs during this weather" so much longer than atma. I love it and cut wit to do atma
I pose a question to you, let's say it takes on average 24 hours of farming to get weapon A. Now let's say with a coordinated group (Which you have) you can get weapon B which is better in less time farming. Now let's say that weapon A will be upgradable, but Weapon C will be out then which will also be better than upgraded A, and take less time.Yes, right now Atma weapons aren't worth the grind. Here's the thing, though:
They are the only weapons we know of that will increase in power with every patch from now till 2.4 (at least), and will eventually have customizable secondary stats.
That alone is worth the effort.
Is it really worth it?
