Yes, right now Atma weapons aren't worth the grind. Here's the thing, though:

They are the only weapons we know of that will increase in power with every patch from now till 2.4 (at least), and will eventually have customizable secondary stats.

That alone is worth the effort.

You act like 6 hours for one atma is that bad. if you honestly think that, then you are clearly new to the concept of farming. Come back and gripe about atmas when you've played game that you spent 1500 hours in farming a particular item and only received 2 of them.

I'm pretty sure he's saying this for other people who still haven't realized it, not that he has completed it himself.

My FC friend spent the entire weekend doing nothing but Atma farming and he got 2. The ENTIRE weekend. I know how long it was, he was bitching in voice chat for a good 20 hrs out of all 3 days. The experience is different for everyone. I got all mine across 2 days of playing time. This threw him into enrage mode because he literally spent over 9hrs in one area and never got a drop.

The rest I agree with. It does give people something to do. Just don't say something is completely random and then dispute how long it took them.

The Atma weapon was 'never' about need.

For one, it's an alternate route for weapons other then raiding, which is a gigantic plus. Also, it's a weapon that they seem to be intending to continually upgrade as the game progresses. And even further, it's a weapon you can work on in a more solo capacity.

So while I don't necessarily agree that the Atma RNG farm was the best way to go about it, it's not too far off either. 'Nothing' about it involves raiding, and that's the main point.

I read this as: "I got my 12 atmas already because I am INSANELY lucky. Now I'm going to try my luck again with a brand new Zenith and hope for the same good fortune."

Try arguing that point to players who have literally spent 6 hours in the SAME DARNED ZONE without a single Atma drop. Some people have worked just as hard as you and aren't even a quarter of the way towards finishing their atma weapon. The reliance on random drops hurts more than it helps.

The trick of farming atma is NOT TO STAY at same area for too long.
I spent my first 3 hours at one area and got nothing, got a bit frustrated, so I decided to do what other people did.
Don't spend more than an hour in one area and move to another area, and I got 5 of them in one day, less than 4 hours.

If you're friend had that bad of a time, its his fault and his fault alone. It's called stop and do other things, taking a break so that you don't become stressed out and start raging. The fact that, as you put it, he spent the entire weekend doing atma farming and was raging, is nothing but his own fault, and as his "friend", and this also applies to your FC, you should have done something about it. If he was getting that upset, then it is your, and your FC's job to say, "hey man, lets go do something together, take a break for now". If he refuses, and wont stop raging, You threaten to boot him from TS, vent, whatever you use, and the Linkshell or whatever until he either does something else, calms the hell down, or just shuts up altogether.

the only reason to get animus weapon is when 2.3-2.4 came out. Relic should have more upgrade then and should be the strongest if not 2nd closely behind Top Coil Weapon.

If the Atma weapon isn't worth the farm then how about you just not farm for the Atma weapon? There are other weapons you can obtain from content you may enjoy more like the Levi EX or Gerolt's MW.

Atma farming is for people who want to Atma farm, I don't see why this concept is so difficult for people. ._.

It took me 15+ collective hours to get 1 atma to drop in western la noscea. This was broken up with doing other stuff, but after the first run of 4 hours, (i was watching GoT reruns and I watched 4 episodes) I started keeping a log, because I wanted to know. 15 total hours and almost a thousand fates later, and I got the drop.

You can't make a claim like that when something is clearly based only on luck. Well, you can, and you did, but you're still wrong.

Most people seem to have a couple of Atma that take 10+ hours. A lot of people in my FC can't get a Atma within the first 15 hours. So yes, it can and mostly likely will take 10 hours+ for a atma.

Saying it isn't true is like saying you don't look at the complaints on the forums.
