    I'm aware there are similarities but if Lightning and Shantotto can come to Hydaelyn in their original incarnation why not a being which transcends time?

    It seems shortsighted to dismiss these connections.

    FFXIV has "connections" to FFIII too. And V. And VIII. And every freacking FF ever. It's a series tradition to re-use concepts and item names.

    The developers already confirmed there are no connections between the two worlds, just give up.
