It's more of an "when" rather than an "if." Be realistic with ourselves. PS3 is almost 10 years old. Assuming this game lasts at least 5 years..how do you expect PS3 to keep up? The game needs to keep getting bigger and bigger. It's not just a visual issue.

Considering that Final Fantasy XI STILL supports PS2... I'd not be holding my breath for that "when" were I you. True, the newest expansion was not released for PS2 in the North America and Europe, but it was in Japan, and you can still play the older content on the PS2 in the US as well. Just sayin' if you're expecting SE to drop support for anything anytime soon, you'll probably be disappointed. The "Ps2 Limitations" excuse they gave for just about everything in that game usually boiled down to "we could do it if we wanted, but it's too much work so why bother... er... PS2 limitations!!!" Yoshi-P said something to the effect that it'll be supported at least until the first expansion is released, and then we'll see. Which, coming from a professional BSer, is BS speak for we have no intention of dropping support, but we'll just make it sound like we might to satisfy the whiners.

From the same ignorant people who probably scapegoat the PS3 for anything they can think of. There are very few things the PS3 is actually incapable of doing with MMOs, as other games such as DCUO, Defiance, etc. have shown. It's one thing to say that the PS3 is incapable of doing something, and another thing entirely to say that Squenix is incapable of doing something using the PS3.

Well the PS3 only has 512mb of memory (half of which is specifically for video/graphics) thats not a lot, compared to most gaming PC's and PS4.

That is a clear limitation and there is only so much you can do with it.

I love how ps3 apologists parrot this every time. Low spec pcs are NOT a problem, the pc client has this thing called game settings, so that if your pc is on the slow side, you can just turn things down.

It wasn't held back by anything, it's the system they chose to go with. They could have went with the system that destroys your item(s) - I bet people would still say that's a PS3 limitation even though it's PC only MMOs that sometimes have that system.

Or they could have gone with a LotRO system that is fully open and easy and doesn't require prisms and lets you wear whatever you want without the limitations of what you're currently wearing; so long as it's an item you own and that can be worn by your current class, you can put it in a vanity slot.

Oh yeah, I absolutely agree that it isn't much memory at all - but the fact that the PS3 versions of other MMOs have these features which everyone is using as examples for "PS3 limitations" shows that it isn't a limitation of the PS3 hardware.

PC's can have well over 32gb ram and 3gb+ video memory yet PC only MMOs are still bland. It's clearly not a limitation that hinders creativity.

Only a certain % would buy a ps4 and play the game on there.

Can please not have the ps3 slow this game down and just from now on have all new content be ps4 and pc or better systems get the updates and keep the old stuff for the ps3. Because damn it ps4 version looks amazing like the pc and runs fast as hell.

Can you please buy ps4s for all the people that bought the game and cant afford a new console to play on?




And yes, I play on PC., but nothing annoys more people than spending money on a game to have the big boss upstairs in the gaming department tell you that if you can't buy the new system, you are SOL.
