Allow it to stay for a few years.
Once the game starts to feel like it's really falling behind drop the leach.

It's more of an "when" rather than an "if." Be realistic with ourselves. PS3 is almost 10 years old. Assuming this game lasts at least 5 years..how do you expect PS3 to keep up? The game needs to keep getting bigger and bigger. It's not just a visual issue.
how about we just cut you off, one less subscription wont hurt Square versus half of their subscriptions or more that reside on PS3.
Its already said once there isnt many people playing it on PS3 thats when it will be cut, they already planned to support the PS3 up to the expansion and are hoping by than people would have moved on to the PS4 version from PS3.
except for the fact that you need eight (yes 8) ps3's to meet the minimum hardware requirement for the pc version, nice try though.

It'll drop after a year or two... so will the PS4 price.
I doubt it is a severe limitation at this point... but probably by the second expansion they will discontinue support.
The game has to remain competitive technologically.

lol to the poster that said let go of PS3 to have better mechanics. How does that make any sense.
I have played phase 1 of beta and it was night and day difference between it and the PS3 version.
Oh and better yet look what else they will have
Resolution Changing

I won't be getting a PS4 until they're fully-backwards compatible, so if SE chooses to cut off PS3 support before then, they've lost a customer.
From the same ignorant people who probably scapegoat the PS3 for anything they can think of. There are very few things the PS3 is actually incapable of doing with MMOs, as other games such as DCUO, Defiance, etc. have shown. It's one thing to say that the PS3 is incapable of doing something, and another thing entirely to say that Squenix is incapable of doing something using the PS3.

I don't understand any of the TC posts. Too bad my translator isn't working on my browser.

If that's true, then they must mean that they don't have the talent or programming knowledge to do it. DCUO has this exact thing; Defiance has 5 vanity set tabs now, and you just press the Triangle button in the character menu to switch between them. Both of these games are multiplatform (including PS3) MMOs.

Even XI does. You press a button, boom, more visibility lol - People usually doubt everything SE says but when it came to "PS2 limitations" they didn't see it as an excuse, even when Matsui took over he stated they always had the possibility of doing x,y,z but it was the time commitment they didn't necessarily want to do given how old and probably jumbled the code. Unless I'm mistaken, the PS2 never upgraded in terms of technology, so them suddenly doing what they say they couldn't clearly means they simply didn't want to.If that's true, then they must mean that they don't have the talent or programming knowledge to do it. That's the other side of the coin people ignore: Developers simply not wanting to do something.
