Used to work in banking, admittedly on the debit card side of things, but SE rep is 100% correct. The declined authorization will be sitting in the pending transaction of your card provider. You will need to speak to them directly, and depending on the adviser you speak to, will need to direct them to this area of their systems. It would probably be the fraud department that has blocked this, so you'll probably need to be forwarded on to them to remove any 'flags' they have on your account once the pending transaction has been cancelled, then you can try again.

Except I've found with SE, this often isn't the case. I know exactly how to deal with declined authorizations through over a decade of being a credit card consumer, but the card company says there's nothing. To them it looks like nothing happened. It must be the collection company that SquareEnix uses to process cards. It seems to auto-decline under certain circumstances. That's the only missing link left, and we certainly can't check that company. And if SE can't check them, who can?

Had a similar problem when I tried to pre-order the game on SE's online shop, shortly before release. The transaction was refused for some mysterious reason (name on card and account are the same).

After contacting SE's support, I called my bank, called the company in charge of the online payment (since SE only permitted to go through this specific third party to buy online, no paypal or such). Multiple times.
It was confirmed there was absolutely no problem on their end, but for some reason SE refused the payment (since it was my first time buying anything from them, I was puzzled).

In the end (after days of dealing with this issue), SE's support told me they would re-contact me a few days later after "investigation". I never recieved the promised e-mail (and by then, it was too late to be worth the trouble anyway).

I ended up ordering the game on Amazon later (they, at least, didn't have any problem taking my money), and nevermind the early access. I guess SE didn't want any more people pre-ordering *shrugs*.
