This couldn't be more untrue. Also healers have it pretty easy overall considering DPS can easily end up with 2 and sometimes 3 people to lot against
Obtaining gear from hardest to easiest
Healer/Tank
Blm/Smn
Mnk/Drg/Brd
Mnk/Drg/Brd - 20% chance you will have the same class in the next DPS slot, having more than 2 of the same class is very low odds
Blm/SMN - 40% chance you will have the same class (for gear) in the next DPS slot, having more than 2 is a little higher than mnk/drg/brd but still pretty low
Healer/Tank - 100% chance you will have someone else to lot against but luckily 0% chance for more than 2.
Furthermore, tanks/heals share gear in coil whereas mnk, brd, drg don't. If the strength gear was shared you might have an argument for mnk/drg.
Not to mention when using PF you can somewhat control party composition as a dps, if you see there are two other monks don't join etc. With healer/tank you really don't have a choice, you'll always be lotting against someone else.
This is supported in game too, I have coiled for months on whm exclusively and I have more allagan for monk and dragoon on greed lot. Very little tank, caster and healer goes to free lot. And it's not just me, many friends in game who main healer/tank have more dps allagan as well. Just the way it is, many times you don't have either a drg or monk in the group and that stuff goes free lot.
So saying healer has it pretty easy is incorrect. DPS "sometimes" has 2 of the same, healer always does. And having 3 of the same is very rare for coil, especially since you want 1 range in t1, 2 magic/2 phys in t4 etc. The actual chances of having 3 monks or 3 dragoons is slim to nil. Blm/Smn have it a little harder, they are usually lotting against another.
All of this is a moot point now anyways with the lockout lifted for 1-5. Now it's as hard as getting gear in CT. But i totally agree with the cheese T2 enrage, my advice to a heals looking for gear is to create a 2 heal enrage group which is easily doable with 2 brds.
Need/Greed groups are great. It's simple, if you want stuff for the class you are playing the instance with join need group, if you want other stuff go greed. Both have their uses and as long as its clearly defined in PF and everyone agrees it's a great system.
