Let's talk about THAT cutscene from the main story (spoilers)

I believe it's for thus quest "The Heart of the Whorl" or some such, but I'm talking about the action packed cutscene featuring Thancred, Yuigri, and Merylweb (I could never get her name ha ah, the GC leader lady).

First of all, it was such a cool cutscene, I actually went back to the inn to watch it again!

Continuing, SE went completely out of their way to showcase two new fighting styles, the ninja like style of Yuigri and Thancred, and Merwlyb's Muskateer. It's one thing to just show off a class doing something and their weapons, but in this cutscene, we explicitly see Yuigri using some kind of shockwave kind of attack, and of course there was some pewpew from our gunner gal.

Why show us all this? It seems pretty extravagant for a cutscene in a patch update. Why do it? Well... What if they're hyping? They have confirmed that they will add new classes in patches. Maybe Muskateer and whatever will be the base class of Ninja will be on the docket? I mean, if there's a time to add these new classes, it's the time following this cutscene. So hopefully, 2.3 will be their time to shine!

However, with the lore we know of, that will mean two new guilds in Limsa, one of which already exists, but still...

Did you not watch the final cutscene where you introduce Yugiri to the people Thancred learned from? She said she was going to teach them her skills so that they could repay the people of Eorzea some day. It was about as close to saying a new guild and class is coming as they possibly could get without being explicit.

Im gonna throw some wild guesses.

Thancred - was actually born in Doma or had Doma parents or was taught by Doma master.

Yugiri and Thancred might be related somehow.

The secret marital arts club is probably has a Doman leader.

Yuigiri has ulterior motive. Maybe a Spy for Garleans.

If I had to guess, I'm thinking Thief will be the next class (learned from this secret guild in Limsa) and Ninja will end up being the job (Yugiri will no doubt be the teacher).

First, they even say that Thancred used to be some what of a "scoundrel", so thief fits. And Yugiri even looks like a Ninja. I just think this was there way of leading into this new class/job.

Thief is a final fantasy stardard Job. There is no possible way it won't be a job class in this game as well. Just as Conjurer turns into White Mage we will have another class that turns into Thief. Not a single traditional job title was used as the class name in the whole game.

Oh yeah, I did see that, I just forgot to bring it up because I was typing it while I should've been paying attention to class lol. Yeah they're explicitly saying "Ninja confirmed 2.3"

Did i say anything otherwise? i was just speculating further than the guild.. as in the master of the guild might be a doman....

You can't say that it doesn't make sense though. They all but actually said that Thancred used to be a thief and the fact that Yugiri will be teaching what is likely the thieves guild her eastern martial style of fighting, that really does point to Thief and Ninja both being the same. As far as why, maybe SE feels that they would be too similar to make them completely different classes? Thief would dual wield daggers as would Ninjas. Both would likely employ some sort of stealth as well.

Either way, it's hard to watch those conversations without thinking that they were basically saying Thancred used to be a thief and that Yugiri is a Ninja. With them also showing them use the same weapons and commenting on how similar their styles were, it's hard not to think the two will be some how linked (class/job).

We all know how 2 jobs can come from a class, so my theory is the secret guild is the rogue guild (rogues are very similar to thieves in MMOs, so it would fit.) because they "like to act in the shadows" and from that comes Ninja, which they could make into a tank though the use of Ninjutsu increasing enmity if they wanted, or it could simply be used as a dps role. They can also have Thief stemming from Rogue, which would make Ninja being a tank and Thief being a dps much more interesting, Ninja using stealth to avoid attack (like Utsusemi on FFXI) and Thief using stealth to deal more damage (SATA).

my speculation is since thancred *was* something of a scoundrel, (thief) and has a very similar fighting style as Yugiri, and was able to *adapt* to her style... thief will be probably be the base class learned from the *secret* guild already in limsa, and will become ninja since yugiri is 'teaching her ways'... makes sense to me
