Only children wanting to seem more mature than they actually are care if something is "childish."

While it doesn't bother me to see people having fun with the vanity system, it WOULD be nice to have an option to turn it off for the spoilsports out there. They deserve to have fun, too, and if they don't want to see my Miqo'te cosplaying as a pirate or a dancing boy, then they shouldn't have to.

I really hope the OP is not one of those people who used to gauge how "good" a player was by looking at his/her gear, and is now complaining because they have to Examine everyone.

Of course I went for the Coliseum gear! I'm a Miqo'te! You know how we are aboutskinfreedom of movement! Why, just go out to Forgotten Springs, and look at how the U tribe dresses!
Immersion? then they should have known well that glamour is merely a magic trick to have your appearance be altered. If you refuse to immerse yourself in the lore of the game, can you truly say that you are seeking for true immersion in the game?
Depends on the setting you're looking for. In a fantasy setting that takes itself somewhat seriously, you might see things that you wouldn't see in the real world, like wizards, mythical creatures, etc. but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll randomly see men in reindeer antlers on the field of battle.
Although I'm not arguing against vanity being in the game, I'm only pointing out that people have different opinions on what they enjoy in their fantasy setting and that's no reason to label someone who prefers one thing over another.

Immersion
Dinosaurs, Robots, Magic, bikini girls...so snowman and reinder not excluded.
Final Fantasy is about seriousness and fun too.(Hildibrand?)
That aside less people will use the seasonal gear for vanity in time (until new seasonal gear), it's brand new.
In a world with Hildebrand, I don't see how tanks in snowmen suits can be a threat to immersion.
