You are trying to compare a single-player RPG with an MMO. I do not know what kind of class you managed to take in your early days, but I advise you to look thorugh the records, see what the average point for that class is
I'm also comparing two final fantasy games with somewhat similar battle systems. The key words in that sentence being "final fantasy". I don't even know how to respond to the rest of what you wrote.... If you're not satisfied with the current relic quest then maybe just devote an hour a day in a certain zone, then rinse and repeat. There are so many posts about people who "don't have enough time" to do this quest, and in the same post they claim they have been at it for 10-20 hours straight. I'm sorry, but that is directly proportional to having enough time to do it. I know that it can be frustrating and that's why I used the example from ffxii. Low drop rates have been a part of rpg's since their inception, embrace the reality

And once again, Low drop rates are not the problem here, the problem rest within the fact that the only way of obtaining this crap is by doing boring fates often Lv 5-20 fates. Spamminng 1-2-3, because lets face it, most fates wouldn't kill you at all. There is no challenge here, hell, Give me a hard dungeon that will woop my ass, IDC thats fun! its hard, i need to learn & adept! But this? Feels like a f'in casino game. Roll a 1000-sided dice and if you happen to roll 666 twice in a row you're the lucky winner of ONE atma.
And the time, Is also meh. i spent give or take 24 hours atm. 0 atmas, 24 hours doing boring fates is ALOT. 24 hours doing fun dungeons/battles, i don't see the problem
I'm not arguing that that sux, it totally does. Some areas allow you to do 40+ lvl fates though, and you are getting gil and seals as well(plus fate based items which I got a ton of/ I also maxed out my seals). I guess I got incredibly lucky 12 times in a row, but it really doesn't feel that way. It still feels like I put in a lot of time. I guess its a "don't hate the player, hate the game situation" but it has only been four days since 2.2 dropped, and I haven't been through even half the content. I'm really digging it so far and my atma weapon is really just a small part of that. I'll be able to get my first upgrade for my shield today, but its still gonna take awhile.

had to cut down the quoted due 2 many letters
I agree, and ofcourse i'm not hating on any players although sometimes i feel the need to strangle one when he finds a atma on his 5th fate
But its just so frustrating when over countless of fates and over 24hours of time i've yet not seen one atma drop. And yes i'm loving the content so far, but this part atleast for me its really frustrating, I really enjoy the new dungeons love them alot, And the sidequests are alot of fun to do, Leviathan fight is one of the best fights out there imo(besides it being a tad easy) But thats why we have EX mode. But this Atma thing is just eating me up. Piece by piece by soul is just evading.
And ofcourse i wouldn't mind if some people need to do 300 fates more then someone else in total, But at this point i've done more fates then most people with 12/12. Because they have been extremely lucky somehow.
