If what you're working toward is just having gear, RNG says that you may be setting yourself up with unrealistic expectations and if that's a huge disappointment, therein lies your problem. I enjoy min-maxing, myself, but I also understand why this system was put into place. All I'm really hearing (seeing) in this thread is that the sky is falling. As I tell those in my FC who want to clog our chat with complaints, "If you have this much issue with a game, perhaps find one that better suits you rather than complaining about this one." No one is forcing you to play a game that you feel hinders you in the way you have fun, but to expect the game to bend to your whim is ridiculous.

I actually do not see how "not complaining" about it is actually a virtue that can make you proud. People of old complained that calculating stuff manually is hard and cumbersome, so somebody invented computer.

I actually despise RNG, based on the fact that RNG has no discernible virtue other than virtual length-padding and outstanding grade in Encryption. RNG takes nothing into account, the a%%hole that died through the entire primal fight or the a%%hole that kept harassing everybody while not pulling his own weight can very well win the Need lot. There is no virtue in RNG for loots. Yet I see people praising and defending RNG. Oddly enough, most of those come from people who won the RNG

It looks like some people just want justification to do a boring content over and over and over again

So, you despise the thing that keeps people from gearing within the first two week and then complaining that they're bored and have nothing to do because they don't want to "do boring content over and over and over again"? Do you realize exactly how much work would have to go into a game that gave you different things to do every week, or even every month? Do you then realize how many people would come to the forums and complain about how long it would take to keep releasing content on a reasonable schedule?

Oddly enough, it should have been obvious that I'm not in the lucky RNG group to which you're referring. And I don't praise RNG but I don't complain about it, either, and I've lost plenty of gear or other desirable items to 'that guy'. And yes, I do see not complaining about the design of a game (or finding a game that better suits your tastes/playstyle, even) as a good thing, as well as a logical one. Not to mention that there are ways of expressing a desire for something that don't constitute complaining. Saying something would be awesome to have, or making suggestions without all of the "I hate this, and I despise that and GIMME GIMME GIMME" is productive. Complaining, not so much. Call it what you will, but most of this is nothing but whining.

Again, I keep repeating that people are focusing much too much on the gear itself (the Tome gear is supplemental) and not enough on the process of getting it. MMO's are (in theory) designed to promote group play and forming a community. That having been said, I have fun playing with my static, I congratulate them when they get gear even if I don't get mine, and we keep playing rather than standing around in our sparkly gear two weeks after new content drops complaining that we're bored because we've gotten our gear and have no more to do.
