I'm having a hard time understanding the people who enjoy spamming an AoE/instant cast spell on level 10 mobs for hours on end in order to upgrade their endgame weapon.

Well yeah. But that skill requires commitment and practice. That's where the whole concept of leveling up comes from.
Point is, some people do like this sort of content and those that don't are free to pursue other gear.

Some people want to test their agility and tactics against bosses, some people want to test their patience and endurance. This is fine. We can both live together. We don't need to be demanding that the other side conform to our ideals when both are valid options.

I wouldn't have been disappointed in the slightest if I didn't have to spam lowbie content to get my endgame weapon. I'd happily spam level 50 dungeons/fates/etc all day, but I didn't spend time leveling all 9 jobs and gearing them all to perform in endgame, just to go kill level 10 moles with my 1-2 weaponskills levelsynced. This is not engaging content, even people defending the content have very little reasons besides feeling like ff11 and enjoying grind, and thats exactly what this is, dated ideas and low level grind, it could have been so much more.

You claim, "some people want to test their patience and endurance" and yet the subject at hand has nothing to do with those virtues.

I wouldn't condone or cultivate an environment that encourages luck based rewards over dedication based rewards in what is essentially a skill vacuum; also known as FATE.

No way defending FATE here. but its better than NPC > Load screen > NPC = relic.
