What happened to all the old guild masters?

I'm pretty sure I've heard the old MRD guildmaster, Hyllfyr, mentioned quite a few times. I'm still bummed about the unexplained disappearance of Rostensthal. Especially since it was evident that he was indeed Sthalmann originally, the roegadyn that saves you in the opening Limsa scene. So many abandoned characters and storylines. A shame really.

Did you not do any of the 2.1 main story quests? Or Blacksmith quests? There are a good amount of previously-"abandoned" characters returning and we will probably be seeing that guy again in 2.2 since it is Limsa-focused.

I don't think this was mentioned yet in the thread, but Yayake is still in the game; she just serves as the receptionist instead of the guildmaster now, and even makes a reference to the old 1.0 quests where she'd shove a bunch of books on thaumaturgy in your face expecting you to read them. (although the Ossuary has since abolished that rule post-Calamity to be more welcoming to newcomers.)

That might also kind of explain to new players why she's featured in the level 30 BLM quest since those were pretty much copy/pasted from 1.0.

Mayhap it's confusion from the fact the city stories all too place in the past, but I thought the THM guild leader was the dark skinned Dunesfolk in the green silky cowl? I'm willing to accept your explanation due to the fact I only got as far as the level 30 THM quests on Lusavari in 1.0.

Lusavari, the GLA Hellsguard Roegadyn from Ul'dah 1.0 was named Greinfarr. You may discover his fate if you become a level 50 Blacksmith. You take a contract from another 1.0 (Miqo'te) NPC. I don't know what her role in 1.0 was, I don't remember her from Ul'dah.

F'lhaminn's fate may be discovered in patch 2.1 main scenario. Why Warburton was killed, his significance, and the significance of his daughter, Ascilla, are also revealed in the 2.1 main scenario. Who killed Niellefresne remains a mystery, one Yoshida has said he would like to return to eventually. I'm hopeful the other cities will get some closure to their stories in upcoming patches.

The Miqo'te was a former gladiator named the Hellsfire Phoenix (real name J'Moldva), who back in 1.0 threw a match against Greinfarr and became seriously injured to try and prevent the crowd from rioting. She retired from being a gladiator and moved to Gridania to become a wood wailer. She played a role in the 1.0 Gladiator and Lancer questlines.
