What's fresh about doing Sky for 5 years?

Awww ok well thank god for the PS4. I give the PS3 a year maxs before they stop doing updates for it and focus on PC and PS4 only.
the sad truth is as much as i may not like it......during much of FFXI's lifetime the market consisted primairly of hardcore gamers. the number of them has since dwindled for various reasons nand they are now joined by a rather large group mof casual gamers who out number the hardcore ones. i think yoshie alluded to this himself when he said square was trying to use development practices that worked in the ps2 era on ps3.

I said same amount of content. It's right there in the message you quoted. Learn to read.

I thought those additions were rotten the moment they appeared. The addition of the Chinese content added there.
Ffxi was awesome because it took FOREVER to get to 75!!!! The leveling in ARR is button mashing nonsense. I miss the team skill chain baby! That was something that required a good sense of timing but it was sweet when it would happen. Why does everyone need an easy game, why not make ffxiv painful at times? This inspires true skill because you can only surpass to a level if you possess the skill. Bring back the delevel. Loss of exp every time you die. That will definitely make the game longer. All this quality of life bull, guys an mmo is supposed to require a lot of time in order to progress? What has happened!?!?! Bring back the hardcore Mmo style!
FFXI was good because:
-- The community: You *NEEDED* to regularly interact with fellow adventurers, which rewarded nice people and penalized mean people. That is realistic and rewarding.
-- The battle system: Say what you will about the details of FFXI and FFXIV. It has to be agreed upon that the battle mechanics of FFXI were more complicated, varied, and required more player skill to use successfully. For those who want a deeper combat system, FFXI was it.
-- Level Progression: Was slow enough that it was not a race to the finish line. Now, 1-49 is basically a blink and almost pointless to consider an actual accomplishment. To start off at 50 instead of 1 would only save us a couple of days.
-- Equipment Progression: New/better equipment came out in FFXI, but it was a long time in between. Allowing you to savour and enjoy the equipment you finally got for years. In FFXIV, you can easily skip whole equipment sets as the next patch will have something better. The equipment you do get is disposable and tossed every couple of months.
It feels as if FFXIV is based on the premise of: Consume and Dispose. Consume parties and equipment and quickly dispose of them for the next one.
This is great for the modern twitter world everyone wants everything now, then wants the next best thing now. For those who simply want to take the slower, more patient route, FFXIV can be seen as a bit silly.
A few things kept me playing, the music the atomosphere , it felt like a real world and the sense of progression.
