What would describe you as hardcore? Someone said that hardcore is someone that plays 12+ hours a week. But I play more than that, and I would say that I am super casual. After all I only got my first (and second) DoM/W class to level 50 just two weekends ago, finished 2.0 story just this Saturday and started relic quest yesterday.
I consider someone hardcore as someone who has a lot of interest in the game, a lot more than the average person, and plays it however they enjoy it, and lets others do the same, how fast you beat it is not something I associate with hardcore.
So just someone who is passionate about something is hardcore about what that thing is.
I had that discussion with someone on the forum last week as well. People were talking about FFXIV being an “Monday”-game, because they didn’t have anything else to do rather doing Turn 1 through 5 and getting the Extreme Primals down for a weapon.What would describe you as hardcore? Personally, i play about 5 hours a day (with the exception of Friday) and my week looks like this:
- Monday: Farm Coil Turn 1 through 4 and attempt to clear T5 if people are interested. Do a CT run with FC members and after that, ask around if anyone need anything done (like a Dungeon, Treasure Maps, etc)
- On Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: Attempt to clear T5 or Titan Extreme. Other then that, help FC Members with their stuff.
- During the weekend: Try to do Peisteskin Treasure hunts or Relic progression for the FC Members that need it.
I love helping out my fellow company members. There is always something i can do to help out. I’m barely touching things like Dailies, Crafting or Gathering.
But, to some, playing 5 hours a day might seem Hardcore. However, there are so many ways in which you can define “Hardcore”. To me, it’s not the Time spend inside the game that makes players “Hardcore”, but the way they spend their time in game that does.
You can play 5 hours a day, doing a lot of casual things like doing your dailies, run a Duty Roulette, do Treasure Hunts, leveling classes through Guildleve’s, etc.
Absolutely, the social aspect is indeed also one of the prime factors.
My week usually looks like this:
Monday -> Coil 1-4
Tuesday -> Peisteskin map Treasure hunting.
Wednesday/Thursday -> Personal goals, gil making or an internet free movie/anime/tv/book evening.
Friday -> usually hanging out with rl friends, go to the movies/park/pub/my place/their place, etc.
Saturday/Sunday -> Turn 5/Primals - Outdoor activities.

Credit goes to Niqo'te for her fabulous art in the "Nique's happy fun time!"-thread and Nix/Capa for the Caitlyn drawing to the right. \(^_^ )/
Give her your support by liking their art!
Someone dedicate and play it for a long time, like...play FFXI for 10 years for example that person can be call hardcore or FFXI hardcore.
The person who quickly clear the game and beat everything as soon as possible are more about "Game Beater", dont know if you can even call them hardcore since they jump from game to game just to beat it and then stop play
Shenanigans in my FC
