What other "optional services" will they add?

I think you see me stuck just on the retainer issue itself but in reality I'm concerned about what it represents, its potential. what might it bring in the future?

Sit & wait is a good tactic, you can always voice up when thing goes the wrong way. There is nothing wrong to watch how thing goes after use the system or watch it for a few months before voice up instead of jump the gun

it is true that I will buy the retainer for more space because I collect item, IF i dont collect those item, I will only use 2 page of 1 retainer to carry my mats & dont even need the 2nd retainer

FTP games give you a smaller bag and fill it up with needless junk or lockboxes every time you loot a few mobs that you get the "inventory full" sign more often then it should, to the point where it slows down gameplay. That does not happen in this game. You have plenty of storage, and are not being hindered for not having extra retainers. The only way you will run out of storage is if you needlessly hoard.

Does one really need to keep a stack of 99 aldgoat leather "in case they need it" 6 months from now? Are these mats really that hard to come by? Of course not.

If you cannot see that, then you my friend are the one being willfully ignorant.

I know of a free to play game that has a separate tab just for crafting storage that allows you to store 250 of every single crafting item in the game "in case you need it 6 months from now" that is available to everyone from day one with no purchases necessary, so this argument that FFXIV is somehow different from "FTP games" as an all encompassing statement is complete bull, for starters.

Not that it makes any difference, because the issue here isn't whether this game's pay wall restrictions are better than a FTP game's pay wall restrictions, but whether you agree with a subscription based game having pay wall restrictions to begin with. If you want to keep saying it's an issue of money and ignore everything else, by all means, go ahead, but there's nothing else left to talk about if you choose not to understand where the other side is coming from.

I didn't get into the venturing feature.
I think it won't be affected by additional retainers (maybe only 2 of them can venture despite how many you have).

My main issue here is the extra space, That's all.

What if i tell you that the sub you are paying is for the full game content of 2.0 and all additional content patches are given free to you out of goodwill;

lol... That doesn't make any sense. That'd be true if we payed a price ONCE for 2.0. But that's not the case, we pay for 2.0 CD, and then keep paying MONTHLY, therefore, yes, we do deserve the patches "freely" (they are not actually free as we pay for them monthly.)

This is keep being said. I think that if as a game dev, I opened a retainer service, and saw that it brings decent cash, I'd make sure to add more items to the game every update, and to require players to need more items, in order to convince them unknowingly to buy the retainer.

It's just how my marketing head would work at that situation, it just seem natural for me to do. Especially because no one will actually think the game changed that way for that reason. (unless they come from marketing branches)

Um, we do know about the venture system as it was explained. We can complain about what we know.

My marketing "theory" isn't a theory, it would what I would actually do in that case if I was behind the scenes, that'd be reality, because if not that would mean for the company to miss an oppertunity to make more money with least consequences. But for the players it'd affect gameplay. I was just sharing what I would do in that case and why. Didn't apply SE will do it, I just said it is a possibility and that players could never tell if the sheer amount of useless items being added is because of that or not.

"voice up when things go to wrong way" is a bad tactic IMO. This forum is meant to voice up and complain, about things we know, and even expressing our concerns about things we don't. You are free to ignore the complaints and live in a world where everyone think SE is perfect.

SquareEnix develops the FFXIV ARR gaming product and service. We all consume this product and service. They may change the product and service as they see fit. We might have some influence over how they make changes to FFXIV, but we certainly do not controll what they are allowed to develop and/or not develop or offer as a service!

If SE wanted to, they could develop and release a patch that would turn the game as we know it upside down. That would more than likely be a bad business decision, so we will probably not see that happen. However, if something like that were to happen, it would and could be done by SE's will... not ours.

Ultimately when it comes down to it, here is our choice as gamers: Consume (play and subscribe) the game or choose not to.
