Or the people that badmouth everything XIV related and want it to turn into XI HD yet keep subscribing.

Actually, I believe the entire point of an effective open world at end game is for it to be as separated from the dungeons and raids as completely as possible. And keep in mind whatever reason that may be, has to be relevant to end game coil. Because let's be honest, if it wasn't people will do it for a week, claim they love it, then be right back here complaining that there is nothing to do when it gets old.
Link it to coil somehow, and you'll see people say it must be done and thus, will have to do it.
There are people that don't like dungeons/raids, and quite a few of them I'm sure. Even for me, the higher the group size goes, the lower my enjoyment drops. (Which doesn't mean solo is the most enjoyable... 4-man is pretty ideal for me, though duo would be great too). Either way, forcing either portion of the population to do the parts of end game they don't enjoy in order to fully do the parts of end game the do enjoy is a recipe for dissension.
Create multiple aspects to a game and let players enjoy them individually as they will.

open world would be so great. i wish devs would come along and make an mmo that has out the outdoor castle sieges and large scale battles like lineage 2 had. that would be so much fun in this game i think.

Or the people who just think, "Oh, they mentioned FFXI, I bet all they want to do is camp NMs to keep me from getting gear." Yeah, because that's exactly what we want, the character Mirau Rhya (or insert other random character here to make you feel like the game / world is all about you) to never have any gear ever!
FFXI stockholm syndrome sufferers, please go back to this game.
Do not dare tainting FFXIV with spending 2 hours to get a group to do anything or claim bot camping.

I was a longtime FFXI player, and I appreciate the objections to bringing in things from that system that failed. That being said, there are things about that world that I feel a greater connection to, and precisely because I love Eorzea, I want there to be a chance for me and others to build that kind of connection, too.
I think MogTablets helped - they gave a reward to the person who found one, and then triggered a reward for the whole world. And I think the eventual patch that sees the primals in the world, which FCs will be able to hunt->summon-in-one-big-nuke-at-a-time-of-their-choosing, will be a step in that direction, too.
I'm hopeful, and I look forward to building happy memories of Eorzea and its locations, just like I did in Vana'diel (*sniff*)
Yeah, thankfully there's no wait time in Queues for Dungeon Finder and there's no botting or hacking problems in FFXIV.
Such a pristine game, for example, http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...acking-exploit. here's a link to FFXI forums, notice how in FFXI, there's people who position hack the monster Twintania?
I agree though, this game needs more of a "world"..that's the one thing that really set XI apart whether you're jaded or not.

why cant they just make a game that has a little of everything, and motivation do do it..
A little bit of easy content to access, a little that requires traveling, a little that requires hours of camping, some that test your ability to organize with others, some closed dungeons, some open dungeons etc.

It's what we gotta live with.
Some other MMO's tend to have servers with channels.
Though I think it would be to difficult to implement something like that but for the sake of changing the worlds mob layout to better met said challenges that you are looking for.
Channel 1 is the current version we have. A general world meant for solo play questing, travel, but has group layouts through out the world from said FATEs.
Channel 2 is for a Light Party group challenge mobs are more spread out in sections and there's elite mobs akin to how a dungeon is set up.
Channel 3 is for a Full Party group challenge in which the sections of mobs now live in unison. There are no major Boss Fates but the rest of the fates and event fate tend to be always active but they have a moderate respawn timer once completed.
Channel 4 is for Alliance set ups were all sections have boss tier mobs. All Fates are active but Behemoth and Odin still have their unique respawn timer in place.
Channels 2-4 will house their own population but you can't expect to survive in those channels without the proper party.
XIV is what it is imo. The best bet for open world content is XI-2. SE should have implemented this stuff pre-release if there was any intentions of doing open world content (Imo). As you all can see, there are ppl whom are against this; just do a XI-2; Doubt it will happen, but how awesome would that be^^ I would play the $hit outta that, lol. XI is too great of a game to just die and fade away (There may still be ppl playing atm, I am one of them); it deserves a sequel imo (It is a mmo, I know, I know). XIV is decent, its' cool, but I am not fond of hack and slash mechanics.
This may sound crazy coming from a XI fan, but just leave XIV as it is currently constructed with additional expansions, updates, etc.
