They probably won't, because they want to sell you more retainers.

If you look at lvl 15 gear you have +3str/+3vit/+1det/+3dex/+3acc then look at a lvl 50 lvl sync gear and its like +16 down the line. throw in say a lvl 16 healer lvl 15 tank and 2 lvl 50 lvl sync dd's its almost guaranteed wipe. dd's think they are badass so pull too much healz cant keep up tank cant get agro. then rage quit, iv seen it happen lol. at least with materia HQ crafted gear it can help offset that a little.

Because that was the whole idea of retainers in the first place so that players would not need to make mules (retainers were physical player npcs in 1.0 who actually stayed logged into the game in the Market Ward area, could be used to store items and even run bazaars for you).
Naturally this didn't work out as well as SE had hoped (the system for accessing retainer bazaars was very clunky), so SE streamlined retainers into the Market Board system in ARR. But of course FFXI fans who are used to having half a dozen mules on their account find it difficult to adjust to the different set up here in ARR.
Really? How so? What can mailing gil or items to another character in an account they already have full access to, do to help gold sellers? I could never really put the logic behind that. As far as I know, hackers take your account, mail out as much of your gold away to another account then make "Ssdfskjd Fgdkfn" named characters to spam us into buying the gold they just stole.
I cant even make alts ATM since im on the cheaper sub so it never really bothered me even but it never made sense.
Exactly. As soon as I read the whole MT retainer thing that alt-mailing restriction finally made sense.
Its sad too, one of the ways they wouldve definitely made more money from me would be by enabling this. Part of the reason im even on the cheaper sub is because I couldnt mail between them. I figured since there is no difference anyway, I may as well have them on separate servers. Might have even gotten them a paid server transfer too. Instead they chose to decieve us into buying f2p items and now im just that much closer to not paying them anything. Who knows how many others have the cheaper sub for that very reason.
