    Maybe I don't understand, but I scale my leves to 5. The gil rewards aren't much better, but the SP is.

    Unless you are a R45 player doing R30 based leves, there is no real reason to 5-star leves since the SP caps out.

    Yeah for the SP since the goal of leves is ultimately the SP. Let's say that a dungeon drops items/currency/reputation w/e, but that there is a reward attached to the fact that you do the dungeon. If putting it 5 stars does not increase the reward but just increases the difficulty of the monsters, no one will actually impose that handicap that will potentially hurt the reward they will get. Risk vs. reward. If greater risk is not providing greater rewards, the common sense is to not waste effort on it and just go the easy way.
