I'd sooner find a way to use my free retainers efficiently than pay $2 more each month just for access to another. Can understand why they'd think this was good, but from my perspective it's not the $2 itself; which isn't much. It's that there's a charge to begin with.

yeah the math doesn't work out. Yoshi P said they needed to charge to cover the server load but 1/4th our total monthly sub is a bit suspect.

Technically if you go from a month to month basis ( like the retainer will be) it's 9.99/mo. Also majority of the player base doesn't have legacy, so it's really 12.99/mo.

My opinion: I don't mind, I get two retainers for free anyway, I don't *need* anymore, and I'm pretty sure I had 3 mules on the go when I played XI... and those had to be paid for

Originally, you were suppose to have 1 retainer, they added 1 extra because of crap happening during the 1.0-23 era, extra retainers were suppose to be a fee service (As was charging for extra characters but that was changed)

You don't even need more then 1 character but they changed it, you don't even need more then 1 retainer but they changed that also, only way you'll see extra retainers without that "visible fee" is if they add it into ur sub fee (like they did for characters but it was capped @ $15/40)

Adding extra retainers uses resources the players don't really need, so it ended up being a extra fee again since the sub fee can't be raised more without backlash
