While I accept they're a business and not a charity I take issue with the fact we can create multiple characters on one account but are prevented from using them as a storage option, in so much as we can't mail things to ourselves, a mechanism we had to utilise in FFXI due to constant storage woes.

Not exactly:

1) You need to use seals to obtain these "tokens" 1k per 5 (which means if you sent all 4 out you would need almost all coins to send them out on "1" Venture)
2) By the screenshot taken by SE (and if the tnl exp is the same as the players) it will take a considerable amount of time to even get 1 venture to 50 let alone 4.
3) If by chance you make it (hardcore style) with all 4 Venture to 50 then you "earned it" at that point.
4) The more you level your retainer, the more it will cost you "token related" most likely. Also, end-game Ventures will require something else for them to set out ( I believe that was said).

Keeping that in mind, it doesn't have a P2W feel to it at all.

I understand what you mean, but somehow I have the feeling that we'll be swimming in ventures (the tokens I mean) in no time, similarly as we are with GC seals. They will be obtained with seals (that will be earned even easier, as some rewards are being increased), beast tribe quests and leves.

I don't know, I want to be a bit wary about this. We'll see how it ends.

It took forever with XI due to its engine. However, more bags/satchels/etc have been added and the moogle ticket system, Seasonal event item NPC, etc. to break those limitations. Less ppl use mules in XI and most have turned one into an alt for dualboxing.

This game already has many elements XI took years to put in place. XI also was more horizontal progression based. Gear was more valuable and lasted longer over time.

As XIV matures and gets longevity. They should be updating standard services to reflect additional content.

Example: New Classes/Jobs = upgrade the Armory slots available.

This is a stab in the back from YoshiP. The fandom and respect I had for SE and YoshiP, mostly because of YoshiP and his passion for the game and its players, has gone right out the window. Ill likely keep playing despite this betrayal of trust because its a very minor screw up (for now), the sub is still cheaper than most other MMO's ... but mostly because the only other MMO's I am even interested in playing... well, one is NCSoft which is just a horrible company, and the other is already locking races behind pay gate. Sub is cancelled now, 25 days left, ill reevaluate this whole thing after I take a month off.

Do I think this will continue? Probably. He even said thats the plan in a recent interview. Here is hoping this backlash we're seeing (at least from the players in this forum) will put the brakes on this kind of thing, if not reverse it later. This is the final straw though, im drawing the line here. Anything more than server transfers, phantasia potions, or stupid little non-combat pets even get hinted at then SE is dead to me.

No I dont think its p2w, nor do I really care, its a subject we shouldnt even be asking in a p2p game like this! Nor is it the point! This is double dipping ... which is worse than f2p IMO. SE will be losing money I wouldve otherwise paid them for now. Lately ive purchased a few of their products (Tactics, FFXIV collectors, the PS3 version, and FFVIII) partly because I wanted to play, but also in part because I wanted to support them ... not happening now. I was even thinking repurchasing FFIX, the upcoming XII remaster, and even the Tomb Raider HD release... not anymore. I was even thinking about upgrading my sub even though I wont really be using it. They'll be lucky if I even feel like buying FFXV or KH3.

All which can be adjusted via hotfix if they feel it gets out of hand. They can't predict all forms of abusive/exploiting players. I'd say, we will see how it evolves.

You should be able to earn extra storage in the game through normal playing. This is a subscription-based game, so gimmicks like these should be off-limits. Extra retainers on this game especially is a significant benefit. So it should be available to all players who subscribe if you ask me.

2 dollars per month is a huge money grab... especially for us Legacy folk who are paying around $7.50/mo for a subscription.

$7.50 = all game content
$2 = one retainer

Theres not even a comparison. Pricing is completely ridiculous! Reminds me of that infamous $10 Oblivion Horse Armor DLC.

I see those Retainers as an Option for those who have everything at 50 and several Sets of Gear for each Class and collecting Stuff like Primal Weapons. Beside the additional Storage to store your rare/ex Gear and have it on 1 Character, there is no real difference in creating a second Character and get Retainers for free. I am glad that i can get now some more Room for all the Gear i have + all the Baits/Lures + Mats and so on. Unless you are hoarding or collecting there is not really a need for a 3rd Retainer tbh and if people say you can sell more Stuff and markets will be flooded; well newsflash.. it is no different from creating a Mule and have Retainers for free.
