    Linkshell Info Needed: Last Time Logged In

    Linkshell Limit Reached?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you've created or joined a rather large Linkshell then you may have run into this problem already. "I have 128/128 members (or close) and I'd like to remove inactive players to make room for fresh faces." However, your Linkshell info does not tell you the last time your comrades have signed in. How do you decide who to remove when you can't tell which members are truly inactive?
    Manual Management
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Do you keep track of every single member manually with graph paper or a MS Spreadsheet? Checkmarking every person that signs in during the week? Do you kick every single person from the Linkshell every few months in order to purge the people that don't play anymore? Blasphemy!

    Last Time Logged In
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Free Companies give the "Last Time Logged In" info under the Location tab. If they are online it tells you their location. If they are offline it tells you how long ago they logged off. Linkshells also have the exact same Location tab; yet it remains blank when a player logs off instead of giving you their time of departure.
    The Uprising Begins!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It is simply my dream to free all of these oppressed Linkshells from their stagnant fate. Information equality among a Free Company controlled world. We don't need your banking information, love life details, or child sacrifices for Ifrit's Cauldron. We just want to know how long it's been since our members last signed in! *patriotic music begins to play*

    You make a very valid point. There are probably a number of players who have stopped playing that are taking up Linkshell space.

    I wouldn't mind having something similar for free companies. I've left two already due to never seeing anyone else on, and the most recent one was pretty large to begin with.

    ? ? ?

    Free Companies already have this implemented. In the members section it shows when each player last logged in. This let's you remove players that haven't signed in for say.. four weeks. Linkshells don't have this option so you don't know which members are active and which never log in.

    There was an official SE post that said they can't do this because of technical limitations and aren't planning on fixing it anytime soon.

    Edit: Found it

Login history, specifically in this case, is not recorded internally.

    Therefore, unfortunately we cannot add a last logged in display for Linkshell members.

    It is simply my dream that you actually use the search function and the dev tracker to easily see the information Geryth posted.

    While we're at it, how about an option to get a system message when a member of the Linkshell comes online. Would be handy for friends as well.

    Let's play, then. You folks keep asking without reading, we'll keep posting easily avaliable info.

    Funny how people just shoot people down instead of helping them. Yes they could have searched and found that post, regardless. Who knows, they could have read it beforehand and decided to post anyway in a chance for it to be noticed(again) to be put on the table. A voice is a voice.

    On topic. It might be technically unavailable now but it would be nice for it to be implemented if and when server reliability improves in the future. It would help masters/leaders of LS to manage a large group of people.

    Did you even bother reading what I wrote? I'm not asking for it to archive and display historical data. I'm asking for it to generate a system message when a member comes online much like Free Companies do now. The system needs zero additional tracking for this to work. It already has to check online status in order to display them as being online in the actual Linkshell window. All I'm asking is for the option to have that display in our chat window as "<characterName> is online." because frankly, this is functionality that should be there for both Free Companies, Linkshells, and for our Friend List. It's not additional database space, it's half a dozen lines of code at best.
