Stoneskin for Scholars, is it necessary?

Hello, I just finished levelling my Arcanist, and planning to go Scholar path on him, I was wondering if Stoneskin is a must for Scholars? I know it helps, but to what up to what extent? Adloqium pretty much does the same job with much more potential, so what's your view on this?

The only cross-class skills we get that are worth anything are Swiftcast, Protect, and Stoneskin. And honestly, those last 2 don't get a ton of use in 8-man content. I suppose if you have time to DPS, Aero isn't bad. Surecast? Useless (I never even use it on BLM).

Well, if I won't use it often and it's not gamebreaking, it's better to just leave it as is right? :\ From what I see, Only Swiftcast and Protect actually hold their spots, Cleric Stance is pretty nice too, as for Stoneskin, I don't know. That's why I'm asking if there's actually a scenario wherein I'm better off casting Stoneskin than Adloqium.

Stoneskin is 10% of the target's HP. Just check your tank's HP and compare that to your adloquium's average heals (then double it)

Even then, just have it around in case you got into a full 8-man party and no WHM is around.

4-man dungeons. Or on the off-chance you DF something and get 2 SCH in the party. But the point I was trying to make is, what else are you going to put there? It's not as if there's something better.

It's a preventative buff that stacks with SCH's innate shields, there's no reason not to have and use it whenever you can. A White Mage's Stoneskin might be more effective, but they also have a much more strict MP pool and can't afford to be throwing them out that often.

And since you're not exactly hurting for room on your cross-class bar, you might as well get it. It's not necessary like Swiftcast is necessary, but don't look for an excuse to avoid playing at your full potential. Just pick up CNJ and heal some dungeons on the side, no one's going to kick you for not having it but you should want it, eventually. It's a very fun skill for a SCH to have.

Surecast is nice when you know you're going to get interrupted by certain things, such as Searing Wind in ifrit EX during a cast. Also useful for garuda's Friction.
