If they wanted to create a new FFXI they would've just called this game FFXI-2. I hope FFXIV doesn't become a pimped out FFXI clone but I'm starting to have my doubts with all the auto-attack system coming up.
Look, I know your attention span is pretty short and you're not gonna read the whole thread or even more than half of any given post, so just do us both a favor and read post #61 real quick.
And since you probably stopped reading three lines ago, you won't be offended if I tell you to just shut the hell up if you can't say something either nice or original.
I agree with OP.
Make 11-2, call it ff15, whatever.
I've given up on 14 now. Taken too long.
Mog house, AH (omygawd), storylines with endings in them, quest cutscenes, quest-lines, environment design, good battle effects, skill chains, feng-shui, elemental attributes to everything, progressively harder enemies in different looking zones, chocobos. Real JOBS! Airships, all of that is content that would make XIV better.
No need to "look into" those features for months if they work. Get it done please.
People saying FFXI-2 is a good idea are confusing FFXI fans with FF series fans. I am a big fan of the FF series but not FFXI. I wouldn't even have given this game a second look if it was called FFXI-2, or if it was greatly similar to FFXI. FFXIV pulled me away from playing other MMOs because it was not FFXI. More of the same isn't going to pull in new players but only maybe move some of the old ones who still would still rather play FFXI into FFXIV.
A FF fan is not necessarily a fan of FFXI. Likewise, a FFXI fan is not necessarily a FF fan.
Now, I completely agree with people saying that some aspects of FFXI would benefit FFXIV, but the same can be said of every MMO. Certain aspects from just about any other game could be noted improvements.
Là á Bhlàir's math na Càirdean.

So you weren't a fan of FFII and III? Considering FFXI is a glorified online clone of said games. FFXI took the classics of the series, which is why "FFXI fans" are pretty much bewildered by XIV's decision to step away from FF.People saying FFXI-2 is a good idea are confusing FFXI fans with FF series fans. If I wanted to play a clone of FFXI, I'd just play FFXI.
I'd like something that takes the concepts of FFXI and improves on them to be more fun. (Incidentally, I found combat in XI to be boring as all hell. The only thing that made them interesting was skillchains, and even that required having a flowchart.)
"Looking into" means working in game design lingo. However you still seem to be ignoring they're redoing the game's core, which isn't a day's work, but in your world everything just magically appears one day.Mog house, AH (omygawd), storylines with endings in them, quest cutscenes, quest-lines, environment design, good battle effects, skill chains, feng-shui, elemental attributes to everything, progressively harder enemies in different looking zones, chocobos.
