Looks like the next level of Relic is about to come..

Zenith literally means 'the highest level/point'. It's a word in the English language (not sure why someone in an earlier post said it was a foreign word). I'm annoyed that they would refer to a relic as "Zenith" and then say... "Oh, just kidding! There is something better!" I was much happier with +1, +2, etc, if there were future upgrade paths because at least the naming structure made sense.

As far as HOW the weapon will be improved... will we get some sort of new ability? That would be cool, but I doubt it. They really streamlined stats in ARR (the relics in 1.0 were far more complicated as far as stats go), so I don't see them making them any more complicated than they already are besides an iLevel increase...

Now what about the appearance? I thought the glowy effect on most of the weapons was already a little over-the-top, but it is what it is. How can they change the appearance more? A reskin to an already existing model? More glows? Some sort of extra sparkle? I don't know, but I really don't foresee any way to really change the relics without augmenting the model in some way. I'm really sick of reskins... but maybe that's just my opinion because I see the way almost every summoner/scholar weapon besides the relics use the same model, just with reskinned colors. (Primals, Allagan, etc).

Zodiac. Hmmm. Remember Tactics, Zodiac Brave Story? I'm guessing it has to do with our "Birthdate" we picked upon character creation. The Zenith weapon will become a new form based on our birth sign. That might mean there are 12 different types of Zenith to Zodiac based on your birth sign.

Yoshida said before the wanted 2 options for gear progression, one is you beat BC (and other things like Primal EX). For those who can't clear them or could not find the time to clear/farm them consistently, you can OTOT upgrade via Myth.

So I think Relic and Levi weapon should both be at the same ilvl with our relics upgradable via new tomes.

I'd say "you should have seen it coming" but that would be mean, wouldn't it ? cause you know, there will always be a "new relic oh lord more powerful than before", which will help you to get to the new allag thingie.

I haven't actually discarded my relic, was just a hypothetical. I've actually never seen a game where you get an item, get a better item, then are expected to still be holding onto the older one.

Plus you can always stock the relics in the armoire iirc ^^

I hope there is something like penta melding a ilvl 90 crafted weapon as part of the upgrade process, it would be more interesting and add some steps to getting the best weapons again.
