To clear confusion (or at least, that's how I understand it will work)

Once a glamour prism has copied the look of some other gear, you can now destroy (or store) the gear in question -- the prism now contains the "look" of that gear.

You can equip that glamour prism to change the look of your currently equipped gear. Simply removing the prism will display your true armor. The prism goes into a 2nd "Body" slot or whatever.

You don't actually "change" your armour into anything, and the prism isn't "used" (as in consumed) when you display it - it's simply equipped.

We just lost the war with cowls and tincans... no way to get rid of them ._.;
And Mages got the short end of the stick again while Tanks can basically equip everything (Tank gear only, DoW gear only, Equip for everyone including robes).
Also no Crafting AF combination fun... I really wanted that Blacksmith hat!!! >:U

I wonder if you can select to display "not-equiped" look as well - As in overwrite your earrings with no equip to hide them.
But seriously guys, we knew that the system would be full with restrictions and overcomplicated things.

I doubt you'll be able to make a slot look "empty". Your best bet is to find the least annoying equipment for that slot.

There's a few low level earrings which aren't too awful for midlander males... I know my FC leader is constantly whining that all earrings look dumb on his character.

Being a cat, I tend to enjoy all earrings equally, from the subtle ones all the way to Titan EX gaudy ones.

To be perfectly honest though, there have been plenty of times characters had done things in crazy costumes or looking quite bizarre in Final Fantasy. For example, the mere existence of Quina Quen. And because the Snowsuit actually does exist in Eorzea, it's not far fetched for someone to decide "I'll be the snowman of justice!" and go out and be a snowman of justice.

But you do have to get new prisms if you want a different outfit correct? If I were to prism my AF gear, I would need an entirely new prism to make prism my Coliseum gear.

It's the other way around. You can't make level 45 equipment look like level 50 equipment. In the letter, he gives an example of glamouring an Allagan Robe (i90, level 50) to look like the Coliseum bra (level 40something).

I really hope it's not as annoying as materia melding where you would have to buy a certain prism by crafter type that the base item requires. Bleh. I just want to be able to buy a thing and use it without the hassle of bothering a crafter or someone I know who has the specific crafting class needed.

it would be like dyes. You buy the prisms from the crafters and do the rest yourself.

But it seem that the prisms have different grades like materia and dark matter. The level 50 prisms on the screenshots are G4 and the colliseum prism is G3
