Yeah, looks like a normal Lamia to me too.



In fact if memory serves me right, it looks a lot like a high res version of XI's Lamia.

But the more I look at it the head snakes do look more like a Medusa when comparing XI models. Oh well, still, this should mean Lamia will be seen in the game as well now and likely in the same level (assuming Medusa doesn't also spawn them as adds).

What is being wasted here? Summoner potential? That was never going to happen anyway, certainly not in a satisfying way for most. Having a large list of summons simply isn't going to work for Summoner in XIV, unless people want Job abilities to be wasted on what is effectively a vanity pet, because that's all Diabolos-Egi and Siren-Egi would have ended up being. Best anyone could hope for is if Arcanist gets more summons during a cap rise, but who uses Arcanist? Lore? He has lore, he destroyed an entire civilization. That's more than Bahamut even achieved, thinking about it...

Heck, based on lolGoogleTranslate, he actually is an summon;

But, by hostile powers, "messenger of darkness than" is summoned to the magnificent capital.

He is just like Odin, with no tribe brown nosing. If Odin was a boss of a dungeon I'd actually probably be happier than I am with the worthless zergfest we currently have, just sayin'. Not like Diabolos was a dungeon boss before he was a summonable avatar in XI or anything. Just cross out Amdapori Township and read Pso'Xja, problem solved.

Ruins is looking more, and more, and more like Yoshida's fond farewell nod to Hayao Miyazaki. I mean, the place looks like the poison-swallowed village from the beginning of Nausicaa, the enemies are insects and corrupted monsters. It couldn't be more Toxic Jungle-y if it tried.

Every lamia from XI is in XIVARR dats atm, so yes they'll show up. If this isn't "medusa', they didn't want to recreate the FFIX version Marilith or w/e her name was.
