The tanking shortage reasons

If you look at the text, it seems the healer was having trouble keeping them up as well: "Yup, Defiance certainly not useful right about now". Could also be a general reference to threat gen though. Which again, an undergeared/experienced MRD won't make up for.

Pretty sure that was just a mocking response to Denzel Taru. Follow the conversation and it stays on the topic: "I didn't say it wasn't useful, I said to chill out". I would expect to see "You have obtained [x] gil" in the chat log if they were ever killing anything. Remember that the whole conversation took less than 5 minutes because the healer couldn't be kicked. It's pretty difficult to have that much conversation and wipe to an easy dungeon in that length of time.

I've healed Brayflox without a tank (3-manned). Whole dungeon, multiple times, both healers. Qarn was nerfed so hard that it's now easier than Brayflox. The mechanics of Qarn involve basically no tank-targeted burst damage. Should the guy go unlock his job? Yeah, of course. Does it really even matter? Absolutely not. If this were Stone Vigil, then sure, I'd question the lack of job. It's not.

We are starting to have a conversation of hypotheticals on something that really doesn't matter lol. Basically:

Was all I was saying. Nothing to really argue beyond that. The guy was a douche, we agree.

Although I agree that there is a lot of "tank blame" in mmos when things don't go right, I decided that my first toon in this game (yes, I am a FFXIV noob) would be a tank. So far I have only been through the first 3 dungeons and I admit my first time using the duty finder I was a bit anxious about how the experience would go, due to past experience with other games.

However, I ended up having 2.5 good runs and no negativity. When I started each dungeon, I made sure the party knew that this was my first time through the instance, and that if I was screwing anything up, let me know. Constructive criticism is one of the best ways to learn to be better at my job. I read up on the bosses before hand so I had an idea of the mechanics of each one, and the players with me filled in the blanks.

Now I know that every experience won't be so smooth, but I am not afraid to try them, and I am certainly not afraid to fail or admit that I made a mistake.

I look forward to tanking more instances in this game...I even got 2 player commendations (I have absolutely no idea what they are or what they do...but hey...I received 2 last night )

So if you are on the fence about tanking...give it a try.. at the very least you won't have to wait long (or at all sometimes) to get into a dungeon.

Well the fact that all I ever get in duty roulette as my lvl 33 warrior is copperbell mines is the reason that I'm probably going to drop doing the duty roulette all together because I would like to gain experience doing higher level dungeons then only doing that blasted dungeon all the time. It's all I ever get and I'm sick of it. I really think the duty roulette mid level needs to be badly added that once you hit level 30 that it starts throwing you in the more complex and difficult dungeons otherwise I won't ever learn to properly tank. That's why there is such a big shortage of tanks because most of them when they hit level 50 realize its not a walk in the park because all they constantly got was low level dungeons all the time.

The solution to this problem is before anyone even thinks about opening their virtual mouths to voice their judgmental opion on the Tank in their party try tanking the fight you are in first.

IMO nobody has the right to comment on how well a tank is doing his job unless they have tried tanking themselves.

I think they should have a built in parser that only tanks can use so they can voice judgement on how bad the DPS is, that would make it even.

Other than that, give PLD the spell reraise and make Warriors Eyes light up red when they have max stacks of Wrath just because it will look cool!

I only use the roulette once per day for the bonus, then go run whatever the highest level dungeon I have unlocked. Don't torture yourself

A beginner tank's opinion:

I love duty finder for Ultima HM. It's sooo funny looking at people running around in total confusion at Ifrit stage and getting run over by Ifrit. Worth repair costs. The only thing I like in df tanking though.

This annoys me to no end. Im like come on...move the camera and dodge! lol had a healer try to blame me for my death as tank when he died to Ifrit and then goes full retard when lasers come out >_>. i cannot STAND when healers go full retard during lasers. like they literally just stop healing and move like scared ants. My first time doing ultima hm was as whm and i didnt have a problem keeping the party and tanks up during those parts. I LOVE some good healers on Ultima HM. Makes me able to use my CDs for Diffusive laser(that sucker hits hard) and not for magitek bits spawning a bunch of scared ants.

The level of suckage i find in Ultima HM makes me not even wanna tank it in DF anymore to be honest. Same with Garuda Ex and Titan Ex Df. i just use it for practice every now and then.
