I just don't understand why spiritbonding occurs with un-convertable items, especially untradeable items.

you can then put them in your armoire in the inns so they dont take up space. basically you want to sb any items you may want for vanity

SBing gear doesn't allow you to store things. The only things you can store in your armoire are various "special" items, like artifact armor, event rewards, and such. SB plays no role, although the items must be fully repaired.
