Not Pre CoP, MAYBE Pre-RoZ. Maybe.

Before Roz, the game was a bit slow but due to its length and hard to level, it made it last a while. RoZ was a huge expansion, its what got NA to subscribe for 10yrs+. CoP was heavenly orgasm*still shudder when i think of "UFO" landing on me in the sea, that mofo was so huge it covered the entire screen*.

I should say after that 1 yr mark from release of FFXI, it grew EXPONENTIALLY. Which i think will NEVER happen to FFXIV.

You're basically insulting one of the best expansion's ever with that statement. CoP included AV, which was unbeatable (without a glitch) for over a year. There was also a ton of things added with it. The only (valid but laughable) comparison could be that the added size (land) in CoP would be about the same as the entire FFXIV ARR game itself.

Oh... and the story in CoP BLOWS AWAY the FFXIV story, that isn't even close.

Only people who never really played FFXI make comparisons like this. Besides various names and some armor models, this game is nothing like FFXI.

People who complain aren't making any suggestions to make the game better or coming up with a way to implement what the want without breaking the game balance they are just trashing the game which is easy to do. MMO's are completely different from single player games because developers don't have to worry about balance and content difficulty they have to spend extra time testing difficulty, balance and bugs.
If you knew the history of FFXI you'd know that between release and Zilart there was also at least one large-scale DLC and if you played the NA release you never saw FFXI as it was before Zilart.

FFXI, japan had 1 year alone with it, FFXIV was released worldwide (twice heh)

i can see why it won't reach the growth-rate of FFXI (at the speed XI had), XIV:ARR is forced to release "quality" content patches at a steady pace while developing the "boom" of growth, it'll burn very quickly if it fails to let up on the patches after the release of XIV thanks to the outrage releasing 1.0 worldwide caused (the BS outrage caused ARR to be born, using time that could of been used fixing and adding content into 1.0 to redevelop the entire game from stratch)

I think this game will last shorter than FFXI did if it continues on its current path, hope things get better will wait for when 1st expansion comes out, ffxiv misses little details that makes it more enjoyable such as movement animation, also i hate how they made Summoner look like a warlock with small pets :\ .

That's what I'm getting at Final Fantasy XI was released with the Rise of Zilart expansion in NA and it took 3- 4 months to reach level 75 since the MMO genre was different back then because most o us were in Junior High maybe a freshman in high school with a massive amount of free time on our hands. Now if a game like Final Fantasy XI came out people would quit because there are a lot of other games to play and a limited amount of free time because of work and family.

This is not the case with FFXIV. A great chunk of the population is able and already cleard most (if not all) of the game content within weeks and it is still a long way before the first expansion.
Quoted for truth. Expecting someone to reply with "time sink" argument. Well guess what, welcome to an MMO. Are you sure you're playing the right genre?

Eh? you know that the vast Majority has not cleared T5, or did not even touch Coil yet at all? Same goes for Extreme Primals. Last official Number of even taking part in Coil was below 10%, so how is that exactly "a great chunk" and "cleared most, if not all"?
