Name changing

I'm... kind of disappointed and disgusted with the reasons pasted for NOT allowing this. You're basically just bitter at other people's misbehaviour, which has nothing to do with offering a service to change a character name. If they knowingly made something inappropriate like that and decided they liked the game and didn't want to degrade it... isn't that a good thing? Why would you want to force them to keep something that defaces the game in your opinion just to "punish" them for it? They changed their minds, that's a good thing. Why is punishing them even your concern? That's ridiculous.

If you love your name... good for you? Someone else might have seen your name and been inspired to write something more fitting to their personality, more befitting the setting of the game, more befitting their race or occupation. Isn't that also a good thing? I'm very confused by this mindset of restricting and banning others from making POSITIVE changes that benefits the community as well as their self-identity.

I have two characters, one named Shisa Wisp whom I love and will likely, do not want to, change the name ever. I'm perfectly happy with it. Guess what? That's not its original name. I'm a Legacy Player who originally hailed from Istory named Wisp Tribal. I made a nod to FFIX, because I loved the idea of Zidane pairing with Mikoto instead of Dagger. I never liked Dagger. Being legacy allowed me to change my name in the modern incarnation of ARR, and I changed it to Shisa Wisp, something original, that still nodded and kept my nod to my character's origins.

I have a second character that's a different race named Jubei Silas. I personally do not wish to have that name anymore because it's a nod to an original character that I created with a very, very good friend of mine. A project we worked on together. We're no longer friends. I want to change that character's name because any time i deal with that character it's a spit in my eye to the relationship that I lost-- I'm sorry, is that a terrible reason?

Currently I would need to delete the character and toss away all effort I currently have on it, lose my friends' list and linkshells and start from scratch SIMPLY to change the name.

I want to change that character's name. Please forgive me.

Isn't changing names taking responsibility? When I first started this game, I didn't know what I was expecting and thought I give it a fair go. Then I became more addicted to the game and realised my name isn't as fitting as it should be. Should players really be punished for this? Even if they allowed a single time name change, it would be more than enough since people would actually put more thoughts into the name compared to the first time.

Oh and I just red your previous post. I was not aware that I couldn't change my name since most of the games out there these days offer a name changing service e.g. Blizzard

Since this game requires not only a single name, but 2 names, at the creation screen I couldn't be as imaginative as I should since I was stumped by the First name and Last name thing. Now with that said, there was no warning sign on the screen saying "you cannot change your name once you have created your character" The only warning it actually gave was the race creation where ironically we were given a Fantasia potion.

Frankly, it doesn't sound like you read anything I said at all. What does "professional" have to do with anything I said? This isn't a business, it's an entertainment I pay for. I'm saying if you never made a character with a name you were not very serious on, we wouldn't be having this little problem.

No where is it said you could change your name so jumping into a game you feel you were not going to be serious in but ended up enjoying it is your fault.
Also, by "professional" I meant something cool sounding or maybe something that rolls off the tongue instead of something silly like... say... "BusterBlade Strife"

Again, seems like you read nothing I said. I was quite serious about the name. Things have changed in my life and NOW it is a cause of emotional pain. Maybe someday you'll understand the concept. My reasons are personal and none of your business, but if my post was too long for you to bother reading to understand, allow me to simplify it--

You were fine with the name you took when you married someone. Now you're divorced. Should you be forced to keep their last name for the rest of your life?

I find it a little silly you're so adamant about people keeping names, but I read in another post where you're perfectly fine with fantasia potions being sold on the mog station to change appearance between races on a whim. Why are you concrete on names but changing the characters entire appearance doesn't matter? That seems awfully silly. Going from an Elezen to Roegdyn to Mi'qote is certainly not the same as a haircut.

1. I actually read your post's a good number of times. And I fully understand what you mean.
2. I actually WOULD keep my name because why would I change the name people know me by?
3. Yes, Fantasia Potions. And you only get very few in the game (If your lucky, with full benefits, only 2 max or that 1 freebie you get for the month reward). Do you see name change potions in the game? No? Alright then so moving right along...
4. I could hardly care about your personal reasons but if you truly want to waste money just to change a name then who is to stop you? You can keep on asking but SE wont do anything unless a huge amount of players really want it. Other than that, I hear nothing in the news about SE working on some kind of name changing service. (hence, the little crown on a topic)
