In these cases, I would suspect it to be simply a reference to their position on a ship. I.e. when at sea, they operate the cannons. Ergo, they're the gunners. I highly doubt their equipment is just a place-holder for content that has yet to released.

Ah, I didn't think of it this way. You way sounds like it makes more sense.

I still think a MSK class will probably come at least in 2.3 though :P

Don't need a poll, both Musketeer and Samurai are already in the DATs as unlockable, so you'll be seeing these two next.

We should never avoid speculating or disgussing what's coming up next. (I remember when "Scholar Unlocked" was found in the DATs with "Gozaru unlocked" and "Gunner unlocked" and everyone said "THAT'S FAKE, LOLOLOOLLOL". And then BAM, "We're releasing Arcanist,Summoner and Scholar!"

Wow, that's really interesting! So it's possible then that SE is teasing us with Musketeer and Samurai at the same time here? I personally know that some players in my FC are VERY excited to play a Samurai in FFXIV.

Yoshida have never said that musketeer will be the first class added (that was tanaka and him team at the release of the V1), he did admit he need to add it... but later he did say that for add a class it need to fullify a means and a role.

- only one class with dex is neither a means nor a role
- the admiral using a gun (this is not a musket) it's still not a confirmation.
- the fact that 2.2 is called throught the maelstrom is not a confirmation too.

don't read too much into it. the class will be added one day, i prefer they work a lot on it for bring us something really different of the archer. than simply an archer with a gun.

Those are either bolt-action rifles, or a very poor model of a musket. If those are supposed to be muskets, then half the percussion lock is missing.
