Are the names for Elder Staff and Omnirod mixed up?

Gaol is gaelic and the actual root for the modern term "jail". It's actually still in use today in Britain and was even previously used in Final Fantasy in FFXI where the GM Jail was specifically named "Mordion Gaol". FFXIV's GM jail carries the same name.
Given that it's a PUG/MNK ability, Internal Release refers to the release of Chi energy. You want them to change it because some people's minds fall too easily into the gutter?
Adloquium is a slightly odd one, though it does fit somewhat. In this sense it means encouragement/reassurance and it's Latin. The Galvanize change they made to the buff is what doesn't properly fit with the term Adloquium unless you look at it as the SCH's encouragement/rally as galvanizing the target's will allowing them to go on.

That said, I do agree that the weapon names should be swapped back.

We checked on this with both the Item and Lore teams and they assured us that there is no error with those names and that those are the correctly assigned names.

Error or no error, you must switch them.

Um... That's the point? Elder staff in ffxiv is a BLM weapon not WHM and omnirod is WHM not BLM

Coldguy was direction their comment at the Lore team not us lol He's showing the team how easy it is to tell the names are wrong. Elder Staff even makes more sense with the LOOK of the staff (old woman/man face).

I liked the FFXI names for SCH skills, Penury (a lack of resources), Celerity (rapidity of motion or action), Accession (taking possession of something or the addition of something), Parsimony (the quality of being careful with resources), Alacrity (promptness in response), Equanimity (evenness of temper under stress).

The skills in XI fit the lore of the job for both XI and XIV way better than the names in XIV.

The way I saw these weapons, I merely noticed that the Cogni and Omni prefixes on the weapons seemed to denote that they had a "creepy face" on them. This is the one thing in common with the Omnitome, Cognitome, and Omnirod. In that vein, I feel that the Omnirod correctly matches its appearance. As for the actual jobs using the weapons, it is absolutely true that in Final Fantasy III, WHM used the Elder Staff and BLM used the Omnirod. However, both classes were capable of using both staves and rods, so it isn't fantastically against lore for these two weapons to be switched.

It's ok you see they're just confused like they've been since 1.1X, Conjurer had all the elemental spells and would have made more sense if it became Black Mage after focusing on the destructive power of the elementals and Thaumaturge had the better healing spells and would have made more sense if it became White Mage after siding all the way with Nald's aspect of life.

Adloquium exists in FFXI as well though with a different effect. The SCH's encouragement in FFXI's case grants the target TP over time.. As for Omni and Cogni...Omni essentially means ALL. Omnirod refers to use of ALL elements (BLM staves in most FFs had specific elemental affinities). Omnitome is basically saying a book containing EVERYTHING. The prefix Cogni refers to knowledge. So basically we have Book of All and Book of Knowledge.
