What I'm basically saying is if you divide the total LB potency by 8, you don't get it all back unless all 8 members do it at one point or another.I'm all for this but, and I may be wrong in saying this, but wouldn't we lose some damage if the other 4 non dps classes (considering we're in an 8 man)haven't leveled a DPS to obtain a damage LB? You'd lose roughly 50% of the potency a group LB supplies. If they could find a way to scale it so that the available # of DPS LB's total the full 9k a group one would then that'd be perfect!
i doubt that this system is possible.. each character having his own LB's would mean that they have to rebalance all bosses over again.
which is very unlikely. Limit Break to me is really something special and a strategical thing... if you would have around 8 limit breaks per boss fight it would be quiet pointless.. oh dear... 4 times meteor in a row, which do not that much more damage when i perform a flare attack...
awful idea.
and if you fear the abuse of limit break then better built up your own party via PF and not via DF... there can always be players who disregard the group's strategy... but that is not just a limit break thing.. a tank can also run into all aeos and wipe the party.. quiet the same..
and even every player having his own LB wouldnt you prevent from that. "Tank why didnt you used your LB?!"
every player having his own LB would make it more chaotic. i would like the idea quiet more when they just would add different and appropriate visuals for the classes.
for example that monk does not swing a bastard sword (omni slash)
and they should change, that bard counts in the healer limit break role. i mean he counts as a damage dealer in duty finder? but well.

I was also looking forward to this, but they never mentioned it again =|
Everything about this idea is bad and you should be ashamed of yourself for having it.
I prefer LB the way it is now, it adds a little more strategy to the battle (when in a pug, you might wanna save for tank or healer's lb just in case). Besides, you should divide LB in 4, instead of 8, because its rare to have a party of 8 mnk/drg =P

I love this idea. I would to see the more infomus limit breaks be epic quests that make you do things all over Eorzea. Make you have re-enter dungeons, travel all over the place in search of this new skill. Also to keep things in presepective there would have to be penalties if in raid group or party every decided to activate their LB all at once. There would have to be some sore of in place dmg reduction for each LB activated at a single time. Like a paladins shield LB didn't block as much, each dps LB wouldn't do that much dmg, etc...
Or even put in a timer penalty until you can use the next limit break. Say like a 5 minute timer or something. Can't make it a huge penalty. That way it keeps dps in a raid group from casting their LB one right after another. You would still have to strategically figure out when to use each limit break out side of that timer penalty.

Ya, sounds like a good idea, but overall I think it isn't. On seeing the topic I thought this was going to be another "class/job specific LB animation" threads (which I support)
Personal limit breaks are a good idea as long as we can store up to 3 limit breaks and we can chain them.
This is true.
Flare is 260 Potency vs the OP's proposed 225 on LB1. This makes LB1 quite useless save for maybe an mp saver which BLMs have no issues with anyway.
Also, on fights like Twintania when you want a massive AoE spell to kill the snakes, you will have to have multiple mages to get it rather than just one.
The op's idea is interesting, but doesn't really fit with the rest of this oversimplified game's mechanics.
