[Petition] Change the fruits in Aurum Vale. No one wants to go to AV.

The problem is the first boss fight. I and many other players use the Playstation 3 version of the game. This means we're playing with a controller.

I play on PS3 and have no such problems.

If you're having trouble with targeting you may want to play with your filters. I have mine set so different combinations select different things. For instance if I hit L1 + triangle it targets mobs, while L1 + X targets objects/NPCs. This makes it easy to quickly isolate my targets in any situation.

I'm pretty sure that Scholars aren't tanks, so if it takes you a little extra time to get a fruit it's not going to wipe the party.

Tanks have to maintain aggro. It's different. And then if we lose it because we were trying to target a fruit, we have to toggle through all the fruits to finally get back on the boss. By then it's a wipe.

You tank the boss near the fruit and watch for stacks. AV is fine on PS3. And while you and I have different jobs I am managing myself and my fairy something that scares people away when it comes to pet jobs/class while keeping my party healed, mitigating damage and watching stacks.

Trust me OP I really hate to say this I mean really but you need to get better.

I have never had a problem targeting any of the fruit and I use the ps3 with the controller... Maybe so of your settings are messed up so you can't target it... I personally use the left and right d-pad and have no issues at all...

Targeting is pretty awful yeah, plenty of feedback submitted during alpha and beta yet nothing really changed and it will still target first whatever thing is 10 miles away instead of the thing that's right in front of you, it's been that way since 1.0 too. What you can do is try to center the camera around the object you want to target and try to face it and then press X or press left or right on the D Pad until it finally targets whatever you actually need to target, you could also setup your target filters in the Character, Controls, Filters so it only target certain things. Targeting enemies is slightly easier, you can hold down the triggers and press L1-R1 to scroll through targets. Nothing else anyone can do until they finally fix the target range or add a target radius option or whatever, which is probably never.

While I have not had much trouble tanking AV myself (and I don't have the best gear yet) I completely understand your pain.

The problem is indeed with the targeting system. The targeting system has a really annoying habit of picking things at the top of my screen , no matter how far away they are from my actual position.

Here is how I get around this issue:

You have to carefully choose where you are going to tank, and then you have to zoom out and very carefully position your camera so that the fruit closest to you is near the top of your screen, and there are no other fruits within view.

Don't listen to the rest of them, it's not all you, the targeting system is lame.

How I grab fruits in AV as a BLM and as a tank:

1.) Set targeting style to "Enemies" (L1+O)
2a.) Turn character and camera to the fruit (Very important: targeting is based on the direction your character is facing, not the camera's!)
2b.) If tank, Stun the boss/wait for their AoE
3.) Press X to select fruit
4.) Press X again to eat fruit
5.) ???
6.) Profit! Cured!

I'm a PS3 player, by the way, and I've never had any problems with grabbing fruits. The only time I'd say I've had difficulty with targeting is Garuda EX as a tank, and that's after her first Aerial Blast and trying to select the Spiny Plume when every other Razor Plume is up. Even then, the new L1+up/down makes it much easier.

I've enough experience with the game that I know it isn't me.

I managed to do the encounter after numerous wipes, by constantly repositioning my character inch by inch until I could target a fruit in front of my chara. But it took numerous wipes to get the fruit directly in front of me.

You need to read what people post before replying to them.

Obviously if I can select a fruit, even if it is no where near my character, the filters are setup correctly to click on fruits. That isn't the problem.

Oh goodness...

It's not like that at all. I told him I'm on PS3 and I have zero issues with targeting non of the tanks I've ran with on their PS3's do. They all tank right by the fruit when the stacks hit 2/3 they hit the fruit that's in front of them. I don't understand why people have such a hard time believing others. Why the hell would I lie about this?

If you have a hard time targetting the fruits, change camera angle so that you only see the closest fruits.
