Why do people hate on tanky healers?

As others pointed out, people "hate tanky healers" because of the lesser mind and piety equating to lower cure numbers and less MP. That\\'s pretty much it.

Doesn\\'t matter as long as you can play your role effectively for whatever you\\'re doing. The "cookie cutter" builds are just the most efficient and preferred for the role.

Ya haaa, because who doesn\\'t like cookies? I know i like em.
Yea but i guess i\\'ll just stick with the mediocre majority in my server and play with them considering there r a lot lol.
Too bad the new gear will only make me want to continue this XD
I think i can literally only play with this build cuz i tried to go full heal ( 30mind, all i90 healing accessories)
It just felt too awkward for me and i actually think i healed worse lol....
So i just got another 10k seals and specd back into 30 vit and re assume my quest as the healer that never was.

"Why do people hate on tanky healers" - because you're trying to play two roles at once while being mediocre at both. I think that pretty much sums it up.

Lol and this kind of thinking always tend to forget about skill being involved.
Cuz gear=\= skill.
I bet if i preformed better than u, u would be like wtf lol in a good and bad way.

While as true as this is. The better gear you have the higher the available skill bar is raised. Skill won't save you if you run out of MP during a fight.

Also I lol'd at the outperform comment. Makes me think of all the WHMs on my server who always cause my team to fail T4 since apparently healing the OT is so "difficult"

Yeah like seeing my health drop to the same level as others and not seeing that 5.7k hp made it feel weird.
And that with my current healing rotation i felt like i could half ass it and still out heal other people and get away with it.
Like i felt there was really no worry on my end.
It just threw me off i guess and the fact that i built myself to be tanky before 2.1.
So i guess i can't play without the gimp XD

To echo this but with an analogy:
Let's say there's a rampant water shortage in town and people gotta get their tubs filled with water. The only source of water is a well in the woods that is full of obstacles--large rocks to climb over, steep hills that are prone to landslides after rain, dogs and hobos that will chase you around, and other stuff.

Now let's say that you're like a super star athlete. You took your high school water-filling team to state and were super pro and then played a bit in college. You could probably fill those folks' tubs no prob. However, to fill the tub, you are given two coffee mugs. Not the most efficient way and certainly a little less room for error but you're pretty confident that those tubs will get filled.

Contrast this with your idiot neighbor who owns a golf cart with a water cooler. He might bumble around a bit--maybe hit a tree or two--in that cart and maybe lose more water than you in one trip, but his margin for error is larger since he's got that cooler and all. Also, he is likely moving faster than you.

Most people and PUGs--not knowing that your neighbor is an idiot or that you were pretty 1337 in high school and college--are going to want their tubs filled by your neighbor. You could change their minds, but you're going to have to fill a LOT of tubs faster and more efficiently than your neighbor before that happens.

Your skill would prevent u from running out of mp.
But if u do run out of mp after doing everything u could ( i.e using potions, conserving mp/ timing shroud, utilizing free cure etc. ) then that isn't ur fault and not really a problem on ur end. Cuz its either that people were taking too many unnecessary hits or the fight was dragged out longer than it should have. Or the worse, having to raise a couple of people because they died to something dodgeable.

Or because you don't have enough mind and you need to cast more spells to get the same results than other healers resulting in to you being out of mana. And because your heals aren't effective enough, the other healer needs to carry more of the group then intended so he runs out of mana faster as well.
Its easy to shift the blame but from the start you are already gimping yourself because you want to be more tanky.

Where is all this carrying idealism coming from??? Lol
1) unless the other healer is full i90 on the left gear side. They cannot be compared to another healer with full left i90.
2) if i came in with full i90 healing gear and the other healer had some crap CT gear on lol they would be automatically be gimping the group as my gear have set the standards.
( highest gear wins idealism )
3) not until u have tried this and see how much of the game u can cheese u can\\'t knock it just cuz the guy above/ below u said so otherwise.
4) advice is advice nothing more, nothing less.
5) so tell me lol. How many of you have actually tried this b4 posting in my thread?
6) you wouldn\\'t last very long if u healed with my setup cuz i bet u wouldn\\'t be able to manage it.
