Well, SE painted themselves into a corner a bit by giving Daggers to Gladiator. Now, any job that classically uses Daggers (like THF) is going to have to have GLD as a base class, or else SE will need to provide some explanation as to why GLD can use THESE daggers but not THOSE daggers, and why THF/DNC/Whatever can use THOSE daggers but not THESE daggers.I would SO love to play Dancer. Bonus points it if has attractive armor like FFXI's gorgeous attire. Aside from being wonderfully unique, I think it could also benefit by adding a dagger-wielding base class to the game which could then branch into Thief as well. It never hurts to have a few more toys to play with, and I think Dancer could be just the thing.
It's a bit awkward.
SE could take an alternative route, since Dancers appear infrequently enough in FF lore that they aren't as tied to daggers as THFs are. They could be a hand-to-hand combatant based on PGL, or possibly give them an entirely new base class with a new weapon type (like whips).
This won't be a problem. Right now we have two jobs that use books. One book is labeled for Sch and the other for Smn. There is nothing stopping them from adding daggers than PLD simply can't equip.Well, SE painted themselves into a corner a bit by giving Daggers to Gladiator. The important thing to note is ''Bronze dagger > Main Hand › Gladiator's Arm'' just like both a thm and a cnj can equip a short staff and a long cane, as long as it says 'CNJ's ARM' it could be a Moogle pom and still turn you into a CNJ.Well, SE painted themselves into a corner a bit by giving Daggers to Gladiator. I look very, very forward to seeing DNC in XIV. I hope we get some interesting support skills like Haste or Drain or Refresh, perhaps they will act the same was as BRDs songs.
From personal experience in the job and also community and endgame.
- Dancer as a main role was a great solo class with its abilities.
- Party support in small groups (2-4) worked very well in things like XP parties and normal grind content.
It's weakness in XI was Endgame. As a subjob it provided more in endgame than the main job did. It's DPS/Support were just too little for the content compared to other jobs. You need to take into consideration the main content after DNC was released was Abyssea beyond WotG.
Only if it had a defined role across content like other jobs in XIV bring. Otherwise it will just be something to lvl for cross-class abilities. Which if they did bring it to XIV, then it should be a class, rather than a job.
Erm..my DNC worked perfectly end-game..in all areas, even Delve. If by weakness in end-game you meant at 75 cap when it initially released and didn't even have it's Mythic weapon/skill, I agree since that's what it sounded like you meant when you stated the support job brought more. Heck, Dancer was actually one of the perfect roles for Delve considering how alliances split off to tackle it lol. So while true it excelled low man, like any job in XI, those horrible at it makes it seem useless in any regard.
For example Blue Mage was HORRIBLE end-game and almost no one wanted it...why? Because of all the Bludgeon only Blue Mages end-game. Now Blue Mage is everywhere lol. So in all reality, the only thing DNC would need for this game is a few more offensive skills, Steps were nice but still needed a bit more.
I really hope they put DNC in XIV, it was my favorite job alongside Red Mage (which I really hope gets in the game as well).
I hope to see it as the job for a dual knife/dagger class (thief maybe?). Can do a dual job for the class like arcanist has, make it thief -> ninja (as pure DPS) and dancer. Dancer would be either like a frontline healer with curing waltz and whatnot, or a DPS/support much like Bard is in XIV already. They have a few dancer templates to work off of after all, my preferred is XI's of course. I wouldn't mind it being like FFT's dancer, dances focus on debuffs over everything else. Can have the dances burn MP while they're up, lower dps by 20% like bard songs, and apply a debuff to the enemies (and maybe one of them could be drain samba, so everyone hitting the mob recovers a proportional amount of HP, like in XI).
I'll be very happy if either DNC or RDM gets in the game, and ecstatic if both make it in =3
I loved dancer it was my favorite job in XI
I would play dancer only on two conditions:
1: it is a physical healer
2: and SE fixes the lack of butts in this game so I can heal my party with magic twerking skills
