There is nothing SE can do to make everyone happy, regardless of what SE does, someone will be on these forums complaining. There is no perfect game for everyone. Instead of forcing yourself to play a game you clearly arent enjoying and trying to change the vision of a game, go find a game that suits your taste and it will make you much happier.

Aion released with a 48man dungeon God knows how many dungeons. Multiple gear sets, pvp and much much more.
Aion released as an absolutely fail title with 2 tons of grind to just pass a level, hours of lock to just redo a dungeon, and a hardcore lagging pvp experience whenever it was down to sieging. Kinda glad FF XIV doesn't try to look like that failure. Oh and yeah I leveled a chanter to the maximum level and there was absolutely nothing to do whenever you had locks.

People just don't understand / don't want to roll multiple toons instead of havin just one to play that kind of games, and then blame the dev team. Which is pretty sad imho, but hey, people. Wanna do coils more ? just do what you have to for that.

Besides, a hard mmo doesnt exist. The 2 titles that ever offered challenging and well thought PvE were WoW and Age of Conan before that last one got massively nerfed, even the hardmode dungeons, because well, "too hard".

Its still quite challenging nowadays for newcomers in case people here are bored, in fact it got one of the most difficult Tier of raid you ll find in any mmo out there

You call it a "fail" title yet it had more subs than ffxiv EASILY. It had a lot of grind I give you that, but grinding isn't what we're talking about. We're talking about how much content it had, and it released with a lot. Without having to lock you out for a week. If you lagged during siege it was because your comp couldn't handle it. It was several threads about that lol.

Anyway main point is, Aion RELEASED with way more content than FFXIV and that was what, 4 years ago?

    /facepalm

It released in Korea still with all the content I mentioned.

I'm really confused by this statement.... Are you saying people should create multiple chars and not blame the devs even though the selling point of this game is that you can do everything on one char?

I'm sorry. Did you say Age of Conan was well thought out? That game had nothing for players to do past level 20 and burned to the ground shortly after launch.

'Fun' is an entirely subjective beast and to many people, fun is doing difficult content with your friends and getting good rewards for your hard work, while always having something to do in the game to progress your character.

These people don't have fun when they log into the game on Monday, down all 5 turns of Coil in an hour, then log out for the week because they have nothing else to do in the game. ARR needs some content, and it needs it fast. 5-6 encounters every 3 months just isn't going to cut it without a lot of supplementary content to compliment it, and that's really where ARR lacks.

I hope you are referring to Vanilla and to an extent BC because everything else was just easier and easier really.

Content does not completely make a game. Aion had tons of content by definition and as mentioned above, failed pretty hard. Conan...well that was a fail really early and never really recovered in my opinion. So much potential wasted really. As for FFXIV, I am HOPING that Yoshi starts putting Tanaka's vision back into the game here and there. While 1.0 was a fail in terms of revenue, there were many parts that were great ideas that can and should be instituted into the game. Also, they really should take some of the stuff from XI and input the ideas there. Itemization and gear diversity is probably the biggest.

Wow, so much hate for casual players >.> Going to post and just ignore anyone after I post because I'm sure people will flame me or put words in my mouth.
I'm a casual player and I don't MMO hop or leave in like a month from boredom or it being too easy. I don't have a short attention span and when I lose I just try again. The game I played before this I played for 5-6 YEARS. And I only left because the community became so toxic that all they did was flame each other in game AND forums. Really, go to a high lvl place in Fiesta on the server I use to play (Apoline). People just dream of reasons to grief and hate each other. I couldn't do anything because the game became so freaking hard to satisfy the companies pay to win aspect. Combined with the drama and lack of anyone being nice to others outside of their own top level guilds (and even then they had so much in fighting that guilds would split and war each other and feud all the time) made me give up on the game. I LOVE my mage there to death. I put so much effort into gearing her and farming for money. But I couldn't even get the last level to hit 115 and cap or even care to do anything when I logged in. People even openly attacked the GMs both in game and forums (and lol, I mean FAR worse than on here. To the point almost every event involved the ban hammer for 1-7 days and removed forum privileges).

Now FF on the other hand I love it. The game is freaking AWESOME. Especially coming from old games like Fiesta that just involve grinding for hours and hours and hours for like 20% of one level or spamming one repeatable quest for weeks for a one level is just downright horrible. The boss fights are amazing and the anti-kill stealing system and loot rolling system is a godsend from loot just falling to the ground and being hoarded by whoever picks it all up at first. GOD I hated when tanks would just pick up EVERYTHING and hog it to use, or much more than likely, sell for money instead of share to people who need it. I never even bothered doing raids in Fiesta but I find myself doing CT every week now and after 2-3 weeks I'm still having tons of fun. I plan to lvl multiple classes (working on crafters first~) and I want to get into Coil and try it someday too. I have complaints about a few things here and there, sure, but overall this game has been extremely fun and I'd love to see more stuff added.

So yes...a CASUAL gamer is doing end game raid content (99% of the time solo queue I'm not being carried by friends if you're accusing me of that already. Though I never found a DF party that could beat Titan HM so I did join that with friends to beat him) and loving it and not complaining of nothing to do or even thinking of joining a new MMO after '1 month and hopping'. I really don't know why people have to label and discriminate. It's very rude. If I fail, I just try again till I get better at it.

    Edit:
To give an example of how horrible end game Fiesta was, it was like this:
Squishies, such as mages like myself, could die in one hit to NORMAL monsters FOR quests if they used skills. If you have really good +0 gears or high tier scrolls (which work like food) you could survive two. Imagine being a melee DPS and trying to get 200 kills for a quest from NORMAL monsters that can TWO SHOT you (or even one shot) if you don't pay all that money or spend your life farming (and yes I mean that) for one gear set for one character that is highly enhanced. Your alternative? Join a raiding guild. But there's only one after all. Drops go to the party that does the most damage so only the best guild in the game gets to raid. ANyone else is wasting time. What do you get joining this one guild, lol, assuming you EVEN GET IN? Drama for one. AN expected idea of spending real money on the cash shop for character enhancing items that cost 10-20$ per bundle and expected to be at every raid or you could lose your place on the drop list. You get 10 50% charms at least but it's still just the base cost you're EXPECTED to have in these guilds there's other stuff lawl. ANd this is not an exaggeration.
    https://en.gamigo.com/fiesta/en/item...okie-pack/9861
    And your purchase options:
    http://i59.tinypic.com/2u9u593.png
So basically 10$ per 1.5 weeks just for the charms (as a start) lolz I paid 40$ for a 3 month sub in FF and I get to enjoy ALL content because it's not ridiculously geared towards people who spend money or to the people who demand the game to be so difficult everyone quits >.>

    Edit: Fixed some typo's

I think SE is aiming for the middle core people, which just like in real like the middle class is the largest amount. Super casual and hardcore are two sides of the same coin. Casual may hop game to game, just here for the month free or little extra. Hardcore jump game to game because no content is hard enough for them and content doesn't come out quick enough. So SE market is those who enjoy FF games, lots of fanservice, amf just those who play at a pace where they were just clearing T5 little prior to 2.1/after/and still. Its not meant to be a second job, its a game.

Unfortunately I must side with you on this in some respect. I absolutely agree that there should be enough content to keep you on a single character. Now, is there enough content? I don't know. I made a new character at the beginning of ARR, and between 2 combat classes, 1 crafting class, and 1 gathering class at 50, I have enough to keep me busy still. I probably play an average of 4 hours a day. However, I realize that there are some legacy players who out just out of stuff to do.

Now on a more general note, I want to point out that large, multi-party raids are not the only form of content that a game can have. That's a terrible myth that WoW started. Anything that consumes a player's time in a fun way is good content. SE should not be focused purely on adding more raids. They should be focused exclusively on making content that is fun and can eat up a lot of time. If raids end up being the answer, then so be it.
