    Yup honestly with the man-hours spent looking deep into cake among other things a bunch of guys could have made a new MMO from scratch already. XI probably has half the staff and 10 times more stuff achieved including game wide XP changes during the lifespan of XIV. They're just lazy incompetent or both it's that simple.

    Yawn, more speculative BS with no grounding in evidence. We have no idea what they've been working on as of yet.

    I'm totally for these things coming in the future, but I'd rather they were put on hold and all the stupid fundamental crap is sorted out before we head off on nautical adventures.

    You honestly have no idea what kind of effort it takes to construct anything in XIV, especially with the shitty coding they're dealing with right now. We know they're rewriting a lot of that and server data too right now, the results aren't going to be seen for a while.

    When I say that some of these things could have been done by much smaller group of people in a much shorter time-frame that's not just a matter of speech.

    During my last project the entire online mode was coded from scratch in 2 months. The art team didn't like the tools they were working with so the entire particle editor was made from scratch in 3 days. Using that all of the particle effects in the entire game were completely re-done by 2 guys in 2 weeks and the end result was much better because of it.

    Speaking of which XIV's particles look really amateurish, most of them are just flat animation frames without depth(?)

    Anyway I stand by what I said. To me it does look like they're not doing anything.

    Especially it's mind boggling that the entire art team hasn't added anything to the game since release. Based on what I'm seeing in the game I'd assume there's one 3d modeler working half-time on this project. And that's assuming that he has done the 2 dungeons himself.

    No new gear during all this time really? Only palette swaps.

    If there truly is more people working on this project I'd STRONGLY recommend hiring more and especially faster workers.

    lol my bad i meant 1.20. lol and yeah i doubt it will be ready by august. 1.17 came out on 4/25 1.8 is expected 7/15, 11 weeks. 1.16 was 4 weeks but it had virtually nothing in it, 1.15 was 7 weeks but was mostly exp table adjustments an MW search feature.

    i really hope that it just took these guys awhile to get rolling, and now they will start to move rapidly, but in all honesty that is not backed up by anything we have seen thus far.

    Hehe, yeah lets hope they speed up on the updates and skip few sub versions on the way to new FFXIV (2.0) JP side they started a thread about server issues SE keeps on mentioning and trying to see if Reps will respond with answer to when, or how much of the server updates/upgrades are being done (if any) because some of the Reps response from the devs says that the server updates in past posts but it sure don't feel like anything changed at all. Hoping once the server is really fixed/upgraded the dev team has more chance of programming better stuff to expand this game.

    If they spent a lot of time, then it was a lot of time wasted because the crafting and gathering systems in this game are chock full of flaws.
    I never said they did a good job on the crafting/gathering, just that they spent more time on them than Battle/Content.

    p.s. I don't buy the whole "SE rushed the release when Tanaka wasn't ready" argument. They were just lazy and stupid.

    Seems this thread has derailed quite a bit. Still want to chime in about the original topic as it is one I feel strongly about. I would very much like to see group crafting, it was one of the things that really escited me about this game. If others feel like me I hope you will post in this thread to grab the devs attention, as it stands now the thread is more a discussion between a few individuals - and probably will not be taken seriously.
