Biggest problem with XIV is XI fans

Kaboro games you do not understand how you can say that Final Fantasy XI is mediocre, people like you should not play these games, go to the wow, that is the last time you say that the Final Fantasy XI

XI was basically a Final Fantasy game burdened with the initial concepts presented with the nascent MMO genre.

Grinding never was a huge part of the FF franchise to begin with, but you could still do it to gain the advantage. Early MMOs made grinding a central focus, because it seemed better from both a business and development perspective. Now the genre is focused more on the actual gameplay (as it should be).

Youd rather have ffxiv turned into ffxi than wow aion etc...thats fine with me but my point was that it can not be turned into ffxi so why beat the dead horse everyday?
My point was that these comparisons are not constructive, the devs can not turn xiv into xi, nor can they turn it into wow or aion for that matter lol.
Oh and a little advice, next time read the posts carefully before getting agressive and insulting, half of what you posted shows that you either didnt read or didnt understand my post.

The point is that FFXI did actually do a lot of things right and that is why so many people played it for years. FFXIV is nothing like FFXI in fact I think they had a big box labelled FFXI and filled it with everything they learned from FFXI and taped it up and wrote in big letters "DO NOT USE".

Now I do not want a FFXI clone (though with I would have rather taken that over what we got so far) but I did expect them to use all those years of running a successful Final Fantasy MMO and take the good things about FFXI and evolve them and make them even better than what they were originally. That is not what they did, they went completely the opposite direction and tried to reinvent the wheel and sometimes when you do that you end up with a square and wonder why it doesn't roll, and that is where we are now.

No...I think the biggest problem with FFXIV and FFXI is they went two steps forward with FFXI then took twenty backwards, broke one of the heels off their stilettos, did an epic flail backwards and landed ass first into a ditch.

FFXI popped the MMO cherry for many teenage boys and girls so you cant blame them for relating everything back to that.

In my years of play XI I've ran into tons of players who never played any other MMO's and dint want to.
